## Typical UK IT support prices in 2026

Most UK managed service providers price IT support per user, per month. We checked current published guides on 10 October 2026:

- **Matthew Temple Consulting** (Hull) says small businesses can typically expect **£40 to £90 per user per month** for a fully managed plan, and that ad-hoc work typically costs **£75 to £150 an hour**.
- **Inology**, in a guide published 9 May 2026, gives **£45 to £95 per user per month** as the realistic range for UK small and medium businesses. Its lower band, £45 to £60, covers helpdesk, patching, endpoint protection and Microsoft 365 administration, with licences extra.

The spread reflects how much is bundled in: on-site visits, out-of-hours cover, security tools such as endpoint detection, staff training and Microsoft 365 licences all push the per-user figure up.

## What drives the price up or down

- **Number of users and devices.** Per-user pricing scales directly with headcount. A 5-person office on a £40 to £90 per user plan pays £200 to £450 a month before licences.
- **Remote versus on-site.** Plans that include engineers visiting cost more. Most day-to-day issues, such as Outlook problems, printer drivers, password resets and Microsoft 365 settings, can be fixed remotely.
- **Security tooling.** Endpoint detection and response, email filtering, phishing simulations and backup of Microsoft 365 data are often add-ons.
- **Servers and networks.** An on-premises server, firewall or complex Wi-Fi adds monitoring and maintenance work.
- **Licences.** Check whether Microsoft 365, antivirus and backup licences are inside the quoted figure or billed separately.

## Per-user plans versus flat plans

Per-user plans suit businesses with 15 or more staff who need someone to own every device, every starter and leaver, and every security control. For a small office of two to ten people with mostly cloud-based IT, they can mean paying for capacity you rarely use.

A flat plan with a set number of hours works differently. You pay the same each month regardless of headcount, and the hours go on whatever needs doing: setting up a new laptop, fixing shared mailbox permissions, turning on multi-factor authentication, or sorting out slow office Wi-Fi. The trade-off is that very busy months may need extra hours on top.

## What dijitul charges

Our prices are fixed and published. All are + VAT:

| Plan | Price | Includes |

| Essential | £25 a month | Software and CMS updates applied and checked, daily backups, uptime monitoring, security monitoring |
| Business | £50 a month | Everything in Essential, plus 1 hour of fixes or changes each month and priority support |
| Complete | £99 a month | Everything in Business, but 3 hours each month, plus IT and Microsoft 365 helpdesk support for your team |
| Ad-hoc | £45 an hour | One-off fixes and IT jobs with no plan. 30-minute minimum, then 15-minute blocks |

For a small team that wants a helpdesk for Microsoft 365, Outlook, Teams and everyday IT, the Complete plan is the one to look at. Bigger jobs such as moving a whole office to the cloud or a network install are quoted upfront. Most support is remote; if something genuinely needs hands on site, we tell you and quote it first. See support plans for full details.

## How to compare quotes fairly

When comparing IT support quotes, put them side by side on the same questions: What is included each month? Is there a cap on hours or tickets? Are licences included? What does on-site work cost? How long is the contract and what is the notice period? What happens to your admin passwords and documentation if you leave?

If you are not sure what you need, an IT audit is a sensible first step. Or read about our small business IT support and get in touch for a straight answer on which plan fits.

Also watch for costs that sit outside the monthly figure: onboarding or setup fees, a charge per new starter or leaver, separate fees for projects such as a laptop rollout, and minimum terms of 12, 24 or 36 months. A cheaper monthly price with a long lock-in can cost more overall than a flexible plan.

## FAQs

### How much does IT support cost per user in the UK?

Published 2026 guides from UK providers put managed IT support at roughly £40 to £95 per user per month. Matthew Temple Consulting quotes £40 to £90 and Inology quotes £45 to £95. The price depends on security tools, on-site cover and whether licences are included.

### How much is ad-hoc IT support per hour in the UK?

Matthew Temple Consulting's 2026 guide puts ad-hoc IT work at typically £75 to £150 an hour. dijitul charges £45 an hour + VAT for one-off fixes and IT jobs, with a 30-minute minimum charge and then 15-minute blocks.

### Does dijitul charge per user?

No. dijitul's plans are flat monthly fees: Essential at £25, Business at £50 and Complete at £99 a month, all + VAT. Complete includes 3 hours of work each month plus IT and Microsoft 365 helpdesk support for your team.

### Is a monthly IT support contract worth it for a small business?

If IT problems regularly stop people working, or nobody owns updates, backups and security settings, a monthly plan usually costs less than the disruption. If you only need help a few times a year, ad-hoc support at £45 an hour + VAT from dijitul may suit you better.

### Are Microsoft 365 licences included in IT support prices?

Often not. Many UK providers quote support fees with licences billed separately, so always ask. Inology's 2026 guide, for example, lists its lower band with licences extra. Compare total monthly cost, not just the support fee.

### Does remote IT support cost less than on-site?

Generally yes, because there is no travel time. Most issues, including Outlook, Microsoft 365, printers, software installs and security settings, can be fixed remotely. dijitul does most work remotely and quotes upfront if a job genuinely needs someone on site.
