## Typical UK website maintenance prices in 2026

We checked published UK pricing guides on 10 October 2026. The ranges vary a lot depending on the type of site:

| Source | Type of site or tier | Monthly range |

| Just Digital Gurus (April 2026) | Basic maintenance, small brochure sites | £30 to £75 |
| Just Digital Gurus | Standard maintenance | £75 to £150 |
| Just Digital Gurus | Ecommerce or high-support | £300 to £500+ |
| CreativeWeb (March 2026) | Simple brochure site, 5 to 10 pages | £75 to £150 |
| CreativeWeb | WordPress business site | £129 to £250 |
| CreativeWeb | Ecommerce, WooCommerce or Shopify | £250 to £500+ |

Just Digital Gurus also notes that prices are usually quoted ex-VAT, so a business that is not VAT-registered should add 20%.

## What website maintenance should include

Whatever you pay, a maintenance plan should cover the basics properly:

- **Updates applied and checked.** WordPress core, plugins and themes updated, then the site tested afterwards. Updates applied blindly cause many of the critical errors we fix.
- **Daily backups stored off the server.** A backup on the same server as the site disappears with it. Ideally follow the 3-2-1 backup rule.
- **Uptime monitoring.** Checks every few minutes, so outages are spotted fast.
- **Security monitoring.** File change and malware scanning, plus login protection.
- **Server housekeeping.** Keeping PHP on a supported version, SSL certificates renewing and disk space under control.

Content edits, design changes and fixing broken features are usually extra or come from a monthly block of hours.

## Why prices differ so much

A five-page brochure site with a handful of plugins is quick to update and low risk. A WooCommerce shop with payment gateways, stock syncing and dozens of plugins needs careful testing after every update, because a broken checkout loses money immediately. Agencies also price in how much time they include for changes, how quickly they respond, whether hosting is bundled, and whether they offer extras such as SEO reports or speed optimisation.

Be wary of very cheap plans that only run automatic updates with no testing, or that keep backups only on the same server. Also check for long minimum terms.

## Questions to ask before you sign

- Are updates tested after they are applied, or simply switched to automatic?
- Where are backups stored, how long are they kept, and when was a restore last tested?
- How many hours of changes are included, and what happens to unused time?
- What is the charge for work outside the plan?
- Is there a minimum term or notice period?
- If the site is hacked, is the clean-up included or extra?
- Do you keep full admin and hosting access to your own site if you leave?

Clear answers to these tell you far more than the headline monthly price.

## Do you actually need a maintenance plan?

If your website brings in enquiries or sales, yes. Out-of-date plugins are one of the most common ways small business sites get hacked, and recovering a hacked site usually costs far more than months of maintenance. Read our guide on the signs your website has been hacked to see what that looks like.

If your site is a simple static page that rarely changes and has no CMS, you may only need hosting, backups and occasional ad-hoc help. Get in touch and we will tell you honestly which you need.

## FAQs

### How much does WordPress maintenance cost in the UK?

Published 2026 UK guides put WordPress business site maintenance at roughly £75 to £250 a month, with Just Digital Gurus quoting £75 to £150 and CreativeWeb quoting £129 to £250. dijitul's WordPress support plans cost £25, £50 or £99 a month + VAT.

### What is included in dijitul's £25 a month plan?

The Essential plan at £25 a month + VAT covers software and CMS updates for core, plugins and themes, applied and checked, plus daily backups, uptime monitoring and security monitoring. Fixes and changes are added on the Business plan or charged at £45 an hour + VAT.

### Is website maintenance the same as hosting?

No. Hosting is the server space your site runs on. Maintenance is the work of keeping the site updated, backed up, monitored and secure. Some companies bundle the two. dijitul's support plans cover maintenance, and our sister company dijituldns.co.uk provides hosting if you need it.

### Can I maintain my website myself?

### Are website maintenance prices quoted with VAT?

Usually not. Just Digital Gurus notes most UK maintenance prices are quoted ex-VAT, so add 20% if you are not VAT-registered. dijitul's prices are all shown + VAT: £25, £50 and £99 a month for plans and £45 an hour for ad-hoc work.
