For most small businesses that means four things: keeping the software up to date, having a backup you can actually restore, knowing straight away when the site goes down, and having someone to fix it when something breaks. dijitul support does all four. We apply core, plugin, extension and theme updates and check the site afterwards, take daily backups, monitor uptime and security, and fix problems when they appear. You get one point of contact for the whole site rather than chasing a hosting company, a theme author and a plugin developer who each blame the other. - **Updates and maintenance:** see [website maintenance](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/website-maintenance/) and [plugin update support](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/plugin-update-support/). - **Fixes:** errors, layout problems and broken features, see [website fixes](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/website-fixes/) and [broken website repair](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/broken-website-repair/). - **Security:** hardening, [hacked website repair](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/hacked-website-repair/) and [malware removal](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/malware-removal/). - **Performance:** [speed optimisation](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/website-speed-optimisation/) and [Core Web Vitals fixes](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/core-web-vitals-fixes/). ## Platforms we support Every platform breaks in its own way, so we treat them differently. - [WordPress support](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/wordpress-support/): plugin conflicts, PHP upgrades, the white screen of death and critical errors. - [WooCommerce support](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/woocommerce-support/): checkout failures, payment gateway errors, stock sync and order emails. - [Shopify support](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/shopify-support/): themes, apps, domains and settings on a hosted platform. - [Joomla support](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/joomla-support/) and [Drupal support](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/drupal-support/): version upgrades, extension and module compatibility, security releases. - [Magento support](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/magento-support/), [PrestaShop support](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/prestashop-support/) and [OpenCart support](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/opencart-support/) for self-hosted shops. - [Wix and Squarespace support](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/wix-squarespace-support/) for content, settings, DNS and integrations. If you run an online shop on any of these, our [ecommerce support](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/ecommerce-support/) page explains how we look after checkouts and payments specifically. ## Why unsupported websites fail Most websites do not break on their own. They break because the software around them moves on. Hosting companies retire old PHP versions, plugins and extensions release updates that clash with each other, SSL certificates expire, and security holes are found and exploited. The scale of this is real. According to Patchstack's State of WordPress Security report, 11,334 new vulnerabilities were found in the WordPress ecosystem in 2025, and 91% of them were in plugins rather than WordPress itself. The UK Government's Cyber Security Breaches Survey 2025 found that 43% of UK businesses reported a cyber security breach or attack in the previous 12 months. A website that nobody updates is a website waiting to be hacked. A website that is updated without checking is a website waiting to break. Good support does both: update, then test the pages and forms that matter to your business. ## Plans and prices Our [support plans](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/pricing/) are simple and all prices are + VAT: | Plan | Price | What you get | | Essential | £25 a month | Core, plugin and theme updates applied and checked, daily backups, uptime monitoring, security monitoring | | Business | £50 a month | Everything in Essential, plus 1 hour of fixes or changes each month and priority support | | Complete | £99 a month | Everything in Business, but 3 hours each month, plus IT and Microsoft 365 helpdesk for your team | No plan? We still fix one-off problems at **£45 an hour + VAT**. The first 30 minutes are the minimum charge, then we bill in 15-minute blocks. Bigger jobs such as rebuilds, [website migrations](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/website-migration-support/) or [PHP version upgrades](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/php-version-upgrade/) on complex sites are quoted before we start. ## Website support, hosting and development: who does what Business owners are often unsure who to call when something goes wrong, because three different jobs get mixed up: - **Hosting** is the server your site runs on. The host keeps the server powered, patched and connected. If the server is down, the host fixes it. - **Website support** is looking after the software on that server: the CMS, plugins, extensions, theme, content, forms, backups and security. That is what dijitul support does. - **Development** is building new features, custom integrations or a new site. That is a project and is quoted. In practice the lines blur. A "server error" is often a plugin fault, and a "plugin problem" can be an outdated PHP version set by the host. We look at the whole picture and talk to your host on your behalf where needed. If your hosting is the root cause, our sister company offers [UK website hosting](https://dijituldns.co.uk/), but moving is never a condition of support. If they are lost, we help you recover them through your registrar or host. See [abandoned website support](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/abandoned-website-support/). - **Backup first:** we take a full backup of files and database before touching anything. - **Health check:** we record versions, PHP version, SSL status, outdated plugins or extensions, error logs and anything obviously compromised. - **Fix the urgent:** anything broken or insecure is raised with you and fixed with your agreement. - **Ongoing care:** updates, [backups](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/website-backups/) and [downtime monitoring](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/website-downtime-monitoring/) run from then on. Website support is the ongoing care a site needs after it is built: software updates, backups, uptime and security monitoring, and fixing problems when they happen. dijitul provides it for UK businesses from £25 a month + VAT, or on an ad-hoc basis at £45 an hour + VAT. ### How much does website support cost in the UK? dijitul's plans cost £25, £50 or £99 a month + VAT depending on how much fix time and helpdesk support you need. One-off fixes without a plan are £45 an hour + VAT, with a 30-minute minimum and then 15-minute blocks. Larger projects are quoted. ### Can you support a website someone else built? Yes. Most sites we look after were built by another developer or agency. dijitul takes a backup, runs a health check and documents what is installed before changing anything, so you know what you have and what needs attention. ### Do I have to move my hosting to you? No. dijitul can support your site wherever it is hosted, as long as we can get admin and hosting access. If your current host is causing problems, we can advise on a move, but it is your choice. ### Which website platforms do you support? dijitul supports WordPress, WooCommerce, Shopify, Joomla, Drupal, Magento, PrestaShop, OpenCart, Wix and Squarespace. For hosted platforms like Shopify, Wix and Squarespace we support content, apps, settings, DNS and integrations, as the provider runs the servers. ### Is website support done remotely? Almost always. Website work is done remotely from our office in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, using your admin and hosting access. That keeps costs down and means where you are in the UK makes no difference to the service. ### What happens if my site breaks after an update? We take a backup before updates and check key pages afterwards. If an update causes a problem, dijitul rolls back the affected plugin or restores the backup, then finds a compatible fix. On a plan, that is part of the service. ## Pricing and contact Support plans from £25 a month + VAT, or £45 an hour + VAT for one-off fixes. Plans: Essential £25/month + VAT (Website software updates (core, plugins, themes) applied and checked, Daily backups, Uptime monitoring, Security monitoring); Business £50/month + VAT (Everything in Essential, 1 hour of fixes or changes every month, Priority support); Complete £99/month + VAT (Everything in Business, 3 hours of fixes or changes every month, IT and Microsoft 365 helpdesk for your team). Ad-hoc support is £45 an hour + VAT. The first 30 minutes are the minimum charge, then we bill in 15-minute blocks. Contact: 01623 650333, support@dijitul.uk, https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/contact/ --- # WordPress Support UK Source: https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/wordpress-support/ Updated: 2026-10-10 > dijitul support looks after WordPress websites for UK businesses: we fix critical errors, plugin conflicts, PHP upgrade problems and hacked sites, and keep core, plugins and themes updated with daily backups. Care plans start at £25 a month + VAT, and one-off WordPress fixes are £45 an hour + VAT. ## Common symptoms - "There has been a critical error on this website" on the front end or in wp-admin - A blank white screen after updating a plugin - "Briefly unavailable for scheduled maintenance" stuck on screen - Error establishing a database connection - Admin pages very slow, or Site Health showing failed checks - Strange admin users, spam pages or redirects to other sites - Contact Form 7, Gravity Forms or WPForms emails not arriving ## Key facts - We fix the WordPress "critical error", white screen of death and 500 errors - Plugin and theme updates applied with a backup first, then key pages checked - PHP 7.x to PHP 8.x upgrades tested before your host forces them - Page builders supported, including Elementor, Divi, WPBakery and the block editor - Hacked WordPress sites cleaned, hardened and submitted for review in Google Search Console - Essential plan £25 a month + VAT; ad-hoc fixes £45 an hour + VAT ## WordPress problems we fix every week WordPress powers a huge share of the web: W3Techs measured it at around 41.5% of all websites in July 2026. That popularity means the same faults show up again and again, and we know the usual causes. - **Critical error / white screen of death:** almost always a PHP fatal error from a plugin or theme. We read the error log or enable *WP_DEBUG_LOG*, identify the culprit, and disable or patch it, often through recovery mode or by renaming its folder over SFTP. - **Stuck maintenance mode:** an interrupted update leaves a *.maintenance* file in the site root. We remove it and finish the update properly. - **Database connection errors:** wrong credentials in *wp-config.php*, a crashed table, or the database server being down at the host. - **Memory exhausted errors:** raising *WP_MEMORY_LIMIT* sometimes helps, but we also look for the plugin causing the bloat. - **Mixed content and SSL warnings:** old http:// links in the database after an SSL change, fixed with a careful search and replace that respects serialised data. See [SSL certificate support](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/ssl-certificate-support/). - **Forms not sending:** usually PHP mail being blocked or flagged as spam. We set up authenticated SMTP and check SPF and DKIM. See [website forms not working](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/website-forms-not-working/). ## Plugin updates without breaking the site Plugins are where most WordPress risk sits. Patchstack's State of WordPress Security report found 91% of the 11,334 new WordPress ecosystem vulnerabilities disclosed in 2025 were in plugins, and 46% had no patch available at the time they were disclosed. So you cannot just leave updates, but blind auto-updates cause their own outages. Our process on every plan: - Full backup of files and database. - Update WordPress core, plugins and themes, paying attention to major version jumps in page builders, WooCommerce and premium plugins with expired licences. - Check the home page, key landing pages, forms and checkout. - Roll back anything that misbehaves and find a fix. We also look for abandoned plugins that have been closed on WordPress.org, nulled premium plugins (a common malware source) and duplicate plugins doing the same job. More on this at [plugin update support](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/plugin-update-support/). ## PHP upgrades, hosting and speed Hosts regularly withdraw old PHP versions. A site built in 2018 on PHP 7.2 may throw deprecation warnings or fatal errors on PHP 8.2 or 8.3 because of removed functions, stricter type handling or old theme code. We test the upgrade on a staging copy first, fix incompatible code or replace outdated plugins, then switch the live site. See [PHP version upgrade](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/php-version-upgrade/). Slow WordPress sites usually come down to too many plugins, a heavy page builder, unoptimised images, no page caching or cheap shared hosting. We profile the site, tidy the database (old revisions, expired transients, autoloaded options), set up caching and image compression, and work on [Core Web Vitals](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/core-web-vitals-fixes/). Full details on [website speed optimisation](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/website-speed-optimisation/). ## Hacked WordPress sites Typical signs: Japanese or pharma spam pages in Google, redirects on mobile only, admin users you did not create, or a warning from your host. We take the site offline if needed, find the entry point (often an outdated plugin or a reused password), remove malware from files and the database, replace core files with clean copies, reset salts and passwords, and harden the install. Then we request a review in Google Search Console if the site was flagged. See [hacked website repair](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/hacked-website-repair/) and [malware removal](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/malware-removal/) for the full process. ## WordPress care plans The **Essential plan at £25 a month + VAT** covers core, plugin and theme updates applied and checked, daily backups, uptime monitoring and security monitoring. **Business at £50 a month + VAT** adds an hour of fixes or content changes each month and priority support. **Complete at £99 a month + VAT** gives three hours a month plus IT and Microsoft 365 helpdesk for your staff. For a one-off fix, we charge **£45 an hour + VAT** with a 30-minute minimum. If your WordPress site also runs a shop, see [WooCommerce support](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/woocommerce-support/). Compare plans on our [pricing page](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/pricing/) or [get in touch](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/contact/). ## FAQs ### How do I fix "There has been a critical error on this website"? That message means a PHP fatal error, usually from a plugin or theme. Check the email WordPress sends to the admin address for a recovery mode link, or disable plugins by renaming the plugins folder over SFTP. dijitul can diagnose and fix it from £45 an hour + VAT. ### Should I turn on WordPress auto-updates? Auto-updates for minor core releases are sensible. For plugins, auto-updates close security holes quickly but can break a site with nobody watching. dijitul's Essential plan at £25 a month + VAT applies updates with a backup first and checks the site afterwards. ### Which PHP version should my WordPress site use? Use a PHP 8 version that is still receiving security support from php.net and that your theme and plugins are tested with. Old PHP 7 versions no longer get security fixes. dijitul tests upgrades on a staging copy before switching your live site. ### Can you support a WordPress site built with Elementor or Divi? Yes. dijitul supports sites built with Elementor, Divi, WPBakery, Beaver Builder and the WordPress block editor. Page builder updates are among the riskiest, so we back up first and check layouts afterwards. ### Do you need my hosting login to support WordPress? Ideally yes. An administrator login handles most updates, but hosting or SFTP access lets dijitul fix errors when wp-admin itself is broken, read server error logs, check PHP settings and restore backups if an update goes wrong. ### Can you take over WordPress support from another agency? Yes. dijitul takes a full backup, audits plugins, themes, PHP version and licences, and flags anything risky. You keep ownership of your site and logins throughout the handover and afterwards. ## Pricing and contact Support plans from £25 a month + VAT, or £45 an hour + VAT for one-off fixes. Contact: 01623 650333, support@dijitul.uk, https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/contact/ --- # WooCommerce Support UK Source: https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/woocommerce-support/ Updated: 2026-10-10 > dijitul support fixes and maintains WooCommerce shops for UK businesses: broken checkouts, Stripe and PayPal gateway errors, missing order emails, stock and shipping problems, and safe updates of WooCommerce and its extensions. Care plans start at £25 a month + VAT, and urgent one-off fixes are £45 an hour + VAT. ## Common symptoms - Customers get stuck on the checkout page or see "There was an error processing your order" - Payments taken in Stripe or PayPal but orders stay as Pending payment - Order confirmation emails are not reaching you or your customers - "Your theme contains outdated copies of some WooCommerce template files" in System Status - Shipping rates or VAT are calculated wrongly at checkout - Stock levels out of sync with an EPOS, marketplace or warehouse system ## Key facts - Checkout and payment gateway troubleshooting for Stripe, PayPal, Square and others - WooCommerce updates tested against your extensions and theme template overrides - Experience with High-Performance Order Storage (HPOS) and the block-based Cart and Checkout - Order email deliverability fixed with SMTP, SPF, DKIM and DMARC - Backups taken before every update so orders and customer data are protected - Plans from £25 a month + VAT; ad-hoc fixes £45 an hour + VAT ## Why WooCommerce needs more care than a brochure site WooCommerce is a plugin that turns WordPress into a shop, so it inherits every WordPress risk and adds payments, customer data and stock on top. A typical shop runs WooCommerce plus a payment gateway, shipping and tax extensions, a few marketing plugins and a theme that overrides WooCommerce templates. Each of those updates on its own schedule. When one of them falls out of step, the result is rarely a dramatic crash. More often the checkout quietly fails for some customers, or order emails stop, and you only notice when sales dip. That is why we check the checkout itself after updates, not just the home page. ## Common WooCommerce faults we fix - **Checkout errors:** JavaScript conflicts from optimisation or caching plugins, a caching layer serving the cart or checkout pages, or a gateway plugin that is not compatible with the block-based Checkout. We exclude cart, checkout and my-account from caching and test both classic and block checkouts. - **Orders stuck on Pending payment:** usually failed webhooks. If Stripe or PayPal cannot reach your site to confirm payment (a firewall rule, a changed URL, an expired webhook secret), WooCommerce never hears the payment succeeded. We check the webhook logs in the gateway dashboard and fix the endpoint. - **Outdated template files:** WooCommerce > Status lists theme template overrides that are older than the core version. Old overrides can break product pages or emails, so we update or remove them. - **HPOS compatibility:** High-Performance Order Storage moves orders out of the WordPress posts table into dedicated tables. Some older extensions are not compatible. We check compatibility before enabling it and keep sync on during the switch. - **Missing order emails:** fixed by sending through authenticated SMTP and correcting SPF, DKIM and DMARC. See [email deliverability](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/email-deliverability/). - **Slow product search and admin:** bloated wp_options autoload data, expired sessions and huge order tables, cleaned safely with a backup in place. ## Updating WooCommerce safely WooCommerce releases frequent updates, and paid extensions from WooCommerce.com and third parties need active licences to receive them. Our update routine for shops: - Full backup, including the order tables. - Update during quieter trading hours where possible. - Run any database update WooCommerce asks for. - Place a test order using the gateway's test mode or a low-value real product, and check the order email arrives. - Check System Status for template and extension warnings. For larger shops with heavy custom code, we recommend testing on a staging site first; that work is quoted. See also [plugin update support](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/plugin-update-support/) and [WordPress support](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/wordpress-support/). ## Payments, security and PCI Most WooCommerce shops use hosted or embedded payment fields from Stripe or PayPal, so card details never touch your server. That keeps your PCI scope small, but a hacked site can still inject a fake payment form or skimming script into the checkout. We monitor for file changes, keep the site patched and check checkout pages for unexpected scripts. If you suspect a skimmer, treat it as an emergency: see [hacked website repair](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/hacked-website-repair/). We also help with gateway setup, Strong Customer Authentication (3D Secure) issues, Apple Pay domain verification and refunds that fail to sync. More on our [online payments support](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/online-payments-support/) page. ## WooCommerce support prices For most shops, the **Business plan at £50 a month + VAT** is the right fit: updates applied and checked, daily backups, uptime and security monitoring, plus an hour of fixes or changes each month and priority support. Smaller shops can start on **Essential at £25 a month + VAT**. Busy shops that also need help with staff IT and Microsoft 365 suit **Complete at £99 a month + VAT**. One-off fixes are **£45 an hour + VAT**, 30-minute minimum. Rebuilds, platform migrations and custom integrations are quoted. See our [ecommerce support](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/ecommerce-support/) overview or [get in touch](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/contact/). ## FAQs ### Why are my WooCommerce orders stuck on Pending payment? Usually the payment gateway's webhook cannot reach your site, so WooCommerce never receives confirmation. Causes include firewall or security plugin rules, a changed site URL or an outdated webhook secret. dijitul checks the gateway logs and fixes the endpoint, at £45 an hour + VAT or on a plan. ### Is it safe to enable WooCommerce HPOS? High-Performance Order Storage is the default for new stores and faster for large order volumes, but older extensions may not support it. dijitul checks every extension's compatibility, keeps compatibility sync enabled during the switch and tests orders before relying on it. ### How often should WooCommerce be updated? Check for updates at least weekly and apply security releases promptly. Always back up first and test checkout afterwards. dijitul's plans from £25 a month + VAT handle this for you, with daily backups included. ### Why are WooCommerce order emails going to spam? WordPress sends email through PHP mail by default, which many providers distrust. Sending through an authenticated SMTP service with correct SPF, DKIM and DMARC records usually fixes it. dijitul sets this up as part of a one-off fix or plan. ### Can you move my WooCommerce shop to Shopify or the other way? Yes, platform migrations are possible, including products, customers and order history, but they are projects rather than fixes, so dijitul quotes them after looking at your catalogue, extensions and integrations. ### Do you support WooCommerce Subscriptions and Bookings? Yes. dijitul supports common WooCommerce extensions including Subscriptions, Bookings, Product Add-Ons and Table Rate Shipping. After updates we check that renewal payments still process and that scheduled actions in WooCommerce > Status are running rather than piling up as pending or failed. ## Pricing and contact Support plans from £25 a month + VAT, or £45 an hour + VAT for one-off fixes. Ad-hoc support is £45 an hour + VAT. The first 30 minutes are the minimum charge, then we bill in 15-minute blocks. Contact: 01623 650333, support@dijitul.uk, https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/contact/ --- # Shopify Support UK Source: https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/shopify-support/ Updated: 2026-10-10 > dijitul support helps UK businesses with Shopify stores: theme fixes, app conflicts, domain and DNS setup, email records, product and checkout settings, and integrations. Shopify runs the servers, so we handle everything you control in the admin and around it. Ad-hoc help is £45 an hour + VAT, with plans from £25 a month + VAT. ## Common symptoms - Your custom domain shows "SSL unavailable" or still points at an old site - Theme looks broken after installing or removing an app - Store is slow and the theme speed report is poor - Order notification emails go to spam or never arrive - Products, collections or menus not showing where they should - An app integration with your accounts, stock or marketplace has stopped syncing ## Key facts - Shopify is a hosted platform: Shopify manages servers, uptime, core security and checkout infrastructure - We support themes, apps, settings, content, domains, DNS and integrations - Online Store 2.0 theme edits, sections and blocks, and Liquid fixes - Domain connection, SSL provisioning issues and email DNS (SPF, DKIM, DMARC) - App audits to remove leftover code that slows the store - £45 an hour + VAT for one-off work; plans from £25 a month + VAT ## What we can and cannot do on Shopify Shopify is a hosted platform. Shopify owns and runs the servers, the core software, platform security and the checkout infrastructure. If Shopify itself has an outage, neither we nor any agency can fix that; only Shopify can, and their status page will show it. What you control, and what we support, is everything built on top: - **Theme:** layout, sections, Liquid templates, CSS and JavaScript. - **Apps:** installing, configuring, troubleshooting and removing them cleanly. - **Settings:** shipping zones, taxes and VAT, markets, payments, notifications, staff accounts and permissions. - **Content:** products, collections, navigation, pages, blogs and redirects. - **DNS and domains:** connecting your domain, email records and verification records. - **Integrations:** accounting, EPOS, marketplaces, Google and Meta sales channels. So you do not pay us for server updates or backups of the platform itself; Shopify does that. You pay us for the store-specific work. ## Themes and apps Most Shopify stores now use Online Store 2.0 themes, which use JSON templates, sections and blocks so you can change layouts without code. Older vintage themes need code edits for the same result. We work on both, and we always duplicate the live theme before editing so there is an instant rollback. Apps are where many Shopify problems start. Some apps inject code into theme files or add app embeds; when you uninstall the app, the snippets often remain, loading dead scripts on every page. We audit installed and removed apps, clean leftover code from *theme.liquid* and snippets, and check the store's speed afterwards. If you are paying for apps that duplicate features your theme already has, we will tell you. Theme updates from the Shopify Theme Store do not automatically carry over code customisations. We migrate your settings and custom code to the new version so you get the fixes without losing your changes. ## Domains, DNS and email on Shopify A Shopify domain connection needs the right records: an A record for the root domain pointing to Shopify's IP and a CNAME for www pointing to *shops.myshopify.com*. Stray AAAA records or old records left behind from a previous host can stop SSL from provisioning, which shows as "SSL unavailable" in the domains settings. We check the zone, remove conflicts and wait out propagation. Shopify does not host your mailbox, so your email stays with Microsoft 365, Google Workspace or another provider. We make sure the MX records stay untouched when the domain moves, and add Shopify's sending records so order emails sent from your address pass SPF and DKIM. See [domain and DNS support](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/domain-dns-support/) and [email deliverability](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/email-deliverability/). ## Checkout, payments and settings Shopify has replaced the old *checkout.liquid* customisation with Checkout Extensibility, so changes to checkout now use checkout and thank you page settings, apps and extensions rather than template edits. We help you configure checkout options, branding, Shopify Payments, PayPal and other gateways, and test that VAT and shipping rates are right for UK and international markets. Common settings fixes: orders not syncing to Xero or QuickBooks, stock mismatches with an EPOS, products missing from the Google and YouTube channel because of feed errors, and staff accounts with too much access. More on [online payments support](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/online-payments-support/). ## Shopify support prices Because Shopify handles server updates and platform backups, most stores only need us when there is work to do. One-off Shopify work is **£45 an hour + VAT**, with a 30-minute minimum then 15-minute blocks. If you want regular changes and priority help, the **Business plan at £50 a month + VAT** includes an hour of fixes or changes each month, plus uptime monitoring of your store. The **Complete plan at £99 a month + VAT** gives three hours a month and adds IT and Microsoft 365 helpdesk for your team. Theme rebuilds and migrations to or from Shopify are quoted. See [ecommerce support](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/ecommerce-support/) or [get in touch](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/contact/). ## FAQs ### Can you fix Shopify if the platform is down? No. Shopify is a hosted platform, so outages of Shopify's own servers or checkout are fixed only by Shopify. dijitul supports what you control: theme, apps, settings, content, domains, DNS and integrations. ### Why does my Shopify domain say SSL unavailable? Usually the DNS records are wrong or conflicting, for example an old A record or an AAAA record still pointing to a previous host. Once the root A record and www CNAME point correctly to Shopify, the certificate is issued. dijitul can check and fix this at £45 an hour + VAT. ### Will uninstalling a Shopify app remove all its code? Not always. Apps that edited theme files can leave snippets behind, which keep loading scripts and slow the store. dijitul audits the theme for leftover app code and removes it safely on a duplicate theme first. ### Do I need a monthly plan for Shopify? Not necessarily. Shopify handles server updates and platform security, so many stores use dijitul ad hoc at £45 an hour + VAT. A Business plan at £50 a month + VAT suits stores that want regular changes and priority help. ### Can you update my Shopify theme without losing customisations? Yes. Theme updates do not carry over custom code automatically. dijitul installs the new version as an unpublished theme, moves your settings and custom code across, tests it, then publishes it. ### Does Shopify host my business email? No. Shopify can forward email, but mailboxes stay with a provider such as Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace. dijitul makes sure MX records survive domain changes and that Shopify's sending records are added for order emails. ## Pricing and contact Support plans from £25 a month + VAT, or £45 an hour + VAT for one-off fixes. Care plans start at £25 a month + VAT, one-off fixes are £45 an hour + VAT, and major version upgrades are quoted. ## Common symptoms - Your site still runs Joomla 3 or Joomla 4 and no longer gets security fixes - "0 - Class not found" or a 500 error after an update - Extensions show as incompatible in the Pre-Update Check - Template looks broken after moving to a newer Joomla version - Admin login loops back to the login page - Spam content or unknown Super Users appearing on the site ## Key facts - Joomla 3 reached end of life in August 2023 and Joomla 4 on 14 October 2025 - Joomla 6.0.0 was released on 14 October 2025 - Upgrades planned with the Pre-Update Check, an extension audit and a staging copy - Akeeba Backup, Admin Tools, template overrides and common extensions supported - Hacked Joomla sites cleaned and hardened - Plans from £25 a month + VAT; ad-hoc fixes £45 an hour + VAT; major upgrades quoted ## Where Joomla sites are in 2026 Joomla is a mature open source CMS with a loyal following, especially for membership, directory and multilingual sites. The version you are on matters a lot: | Version | Status | | Joomla 3.x | End of life since August 2023, no security fixes | | Joomla 4.x | End of life since 14 October 2025, no security fixes | | Joomla 5.x | Supported | | Joomla 6.x | Current major release, 6.0.0 released 14 October 2025 | If your site is on Joomla 3 or 4, any newly discovered vulnerability will stay open. That is the single biggest reason Joomla sites get hacked. ## Upgrading Joomla without losing the site Joomla 3 to 4 was a big jump: a new admin template, Bootstrap 5, a rewritten codebase and removed legacy features. Many Joomla 3 extensions and templates were never updated. Moving from 4 to 5 and 5 to 6 is smoother, but each major version removes deprecated code, so old extensions still break. Our upgrade process: - Full backup, typically with Akeeba Backup, and a restore test on a staging copy. - Run Joomla's Pre-Update Check to list incompatible extensions and PHP requirements. - For each extension: update, replace with an alternative, or remove if no longer needed. - Rebuild or update the template and any template overrides in */templates/your-template/html*. - Upgrade the staging site, test forms, menus, logins and SEF URLs, then repeat on live. A Joomla 3 site may need an upgrade or a rebuild, depending on how many extensions are dead. We quote major upgrades after the audit. Sometimes moving to WordPress is the better long-term choice, and we will tell you honestly if so. See [website migration support](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/website-migration-support/). ## Common Joomla errors we fix - **500 errors and class not found:** often a plugin that was not compatible with the new version, or a corrupted update. We use the error log and disable the plugin in the database if the admin is unreachable. - **Admin login loop:** session handler, cookie domain or caching problems, sometimes a security extension blocking your IP. - **Broken SEF URLs:** rewrite rules in *.htaccess* not enabled after a move, or the *htaccess.txt* never renamed. - **Database schema mismatches:** fixed from System > Database once we know it is safe. - **PHP version problems:** Joomla 5 and 6 require PHP 8, so a host PHP change can break an older site overnight. See [PHP version upgrade](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/php-version-upgrade/). ## Security for Joomla sites We keep Joomla core and extensions patched, check the Joomla Vulnerable Extensions List, remove unused extensions, enforce strong Super User passwords and two-factor authentication, and set correct file permissions. Admin Tools or similar can add a web application firewall layer. If your site has already been compromised, see [hacked website repair](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/hacked-website-repair/) and [malware removal](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/malware-removal/). ## Extensions that cause the most trouble On Joomla sites we take over, the same groups of extensions cause most upgrade and security work: - **Page builders and template frameworks:** older versions of frameworks such as Gantry, T3 or Helix, and builders that never gained Joomla 4 or 5 support, can leave a site with no working template after an upgrade. - **Form and content construction kits:** large extensions that store data in their own tables need their own upgrade path, and their data must survive the move. - **Ecommerce:** VirtueMart and HikaShop versions are tied closely to particular Joomla versions, so the shop decides when the CMS can be upgraded. - **Abandoned extensions:** anything from a developer who has stopped trading. These are the most common entry point for attackers. Our audit lists every extension with its version, whether it is still maintained and what it would take to replace, so the upgrade quote is based on facts. ## Joomla support prices **Essential, £25 a month + VAT:** core and extension updates applied and checked, daily backups, uptime and security monitoring. **Business, £50 a month + VAT:** adds an hour of fixes or changes each month and priority support. **Complete, £99 a month + VAT:** three hours a month plus IT and Microsoft 365 helpdesk. One-off Joomla fixes are **£45 an hour + VAT**, 30-minute minimum. Major version upgrades are quoted after an audit. Compare options on our [pricing page](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/pricing/), or read about [website maintenance](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/website-maintenance/). ## FAQs ### Is Joomla 3 still safe to use? No. Joomla 3 reached end of life in August 2023 and receives no security fixes, and Joomla 4 followed on 14 October 2025. Any new vulnerability stays open. dijitul can audit a Joomla 3 or 4 site and quote an upgrade or rebuild. ### Can I upgrade straight from Joomla 3 to Joomla 5 or 6? Not in one step. Joomla expects you to move through each major version: 3.10 to 4.4, then to 5, then to 6. Each stage needs compatible extensions. dijitul plans and tests the whole path on a staging copy first. ### How much does a Joomla upgrade cost? It depends on the number of extensions and how custom the template is, so dijitul quotes major upgrades after an audit. Small fixes are £45 an hour + VAT, and ongoing care plans start at £25 a month + VAT. ### Why does my Joomla site show a 500 error after an update? Most often an extension that is incompatible with the new Joomla or PHP version. dijitul checks the server error log, disables the faulty extension, even directly in the database if needed, then updates or replaces it. ### Should I move from Joomla to WordPress? Sometimes. If most of your extensions are abandoned, a rebuild may cost less than an upgrade, and WordPress has a larger plugin and developer pool. dijitul will give an honest view after looking at your site. ## Pricing and contact Support plans from £25 a month + VAT, or £45 an hour + VAT for one-off fixes. Contact: 01623 650333, support@dijitul.uk, https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/contact/ --- # Drupal Support UK Source: https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/drupal-support/ Updated: 2026-10-10 > dijitul support maintains Drupal websites for UK businesses and organisations: Drupal core and module security updates through Composer, fixes for errors and broken modules, and planning upgrades away from Drupal 7 and Drupal 10. Care plans start at £25 a month + VAT, one-off fixes cost £45 an hour + VAT, and major upgrades are quoted. ## Common symptoms - "The website encountered an unexpected error. Try again later." - Your site still runs Drupal 7 with no security updates - Status report shows "Not supported" or pending database updates - Composer refuses to update because of dependency conflicts - Configuration changes made on live are overwritten after deployment - Views, caching or cron problems making the site slow ## Key facts - Drupal 7 security support ended on 5 January 2025 - Drupal 10 reaches end of life on 9 December 2026; Drupal 11 is the upgrade target - Updates managed with Composer and Drush, including database updates and config export - Contributed module compatibility checked with Upgrade Status before major upgrades - Security advisories from the Drupal Security Team applied promptly - Plans from £25 a month + VAT; ad-hoc £45 an hour + VAT; major upgrades quoted ## Drupal versions and deadlines Drupal is used by councils, universities, charities and larger businesses because of its permissions, structured content and multilingual features. It is also stricter about versions than most CMSs, and the deadlines are firm: | Version | Status | | Drupal 7 | Community security support ended 5 January 2025 | | Drupal 10 | End of life 9 December 2026 | | Drupal 11 | Current supported major version | | Drupal 12 | Scheduled for the week of 7 December 2026 | Drupal 8 and later share the same modern architecture (Symfony components, Twig templates, configuration management), so moving from 10 to 11 is an upgrade, not a rebuild. Moving from Drupal 7 is a migration: content, users and files are moved into a newly built site. ## How we update Drupal Modern Drupal is managed with Composer. Updating through the admin UI is not supported for core on Drupal 8 and later, which catches out many site owners whose original developer has moved on. Our process: - Back up code, database and files. - Run *composer update* for the core and module packages, resolving any version constraints in *composer.json*. - Run *drush updatedb* to apply database updates, then *drush config:export* so configuration in code matches the live site. - Clear caches, check the Status report and test key pages, forms and logins. We watch Drupal Security Team advisories and prioritise anything marked critical or highly critical for your installed modules. ## Upgrading from Drupal 10 to 11, or off Drupal 7 For Drupal 10 to 11, we run the Upgrade Status module to find deprecated code in custom modules and themes and incompatible contributed modules. Drupal Rector can automatically fix much of the deprecated code. Contributed modules without a Drupal 11 release need patching, replacing or removing. Drupal 11 also needs PHP 8.3 or newer, so hosting may need changing. For Drupal 7 sites, the Migrate API can bring content, taxonomy, users and files into a new Drupal 11 build, but themes and custom modules must be rebuilt. For a small site, a move to WordPress can be simpler and cheaper to run. Either route is quoted after an audit; complex builds may be handed to our bespoke team at [dijitul developments](https://dijituldevelopments.co.uk/). ## Drupal problems we fix - **White screen or unexpected error:** we check *watchdog* logs with *drush watchdog:show* or the server log, then fix the failing module or missing dependency. - **Composer conflicts:** patches that no longer apply, abandoned packages, or a platform PHP version mismatch. - **Config drift:** changes made through the UI on live that are wiped on the next deploy because they were never exported. - **Cron not running:** search indexes, scheduled publishing and cache clears silently stop. - **Performance:** heavy Views, disabled caching or missing Redis. See [website speed optimisation](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/website-speed-optimisation/). ## Hosting and PHP for Drupal Drupal is more sensitive to hosting than most CMSs. Drupal 11 needs PHP 8.3 or newer, a recent MySQL, MariaDB or PostgreSQL version, and Composer available on the server or in a deployment pipeline. Cheap shared hosting without SSH access makes Composer-based updates awkward, and some sites end up never updated for that reason alone. We check the hosting before any upgrade: PHP version and memory limit, database version, whether Drush can run, how cron is triggered, and whether a staging environment exists. If your current host cannot run a supported Drupal version, we will explain what you need. Hosting is available from our sister company, but you are free to stay where you are if the platform meets the requirements. ## Drupal support prices **Essential, £25 a month + VAT:** Drupal core and module updates applied and checked, daily backups, uptime and security monitoring. **Business, £50 a month + VAT:** adds one hour of fixes or changes a month and priority support. **Complete, £99 a month + VAT:** three hours a month plus IT and Microsoft 365 helpdesk for your team. Ad-hoc Drupal work is **£45 an hour + VAT** with a 30-minute minimum. Version upgrades and Drupal 7 migrations are quoted. See [website maintenance](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/website-maintenance/) or [ask for a quote](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/quote/). ## FAQs ### Is Drupal 7 still supported? No. Drupal 7 community security support ended on 5 January 2025, so new vulnerabilities will not be fixed by the Drupal Security Team. dijitul can quote a migration to Drupal 11 or another platform after auditing your site. ### When does Drupal 10 reach end of life? Drupal 10 reaches end of life on 9 December 2026, the same week Drupal 12 is scheduled. Sites should move to Drupal 11 before then. dijitul runs Upgrade Status and quotes the upgrade work. ### Why can't I update Drupal from the admin screen? Drupal 8 and later are managed with Composer, and core updates through the admin interface are not supported. dijitul runs updates with Composer and Drush, then applies database updates and exports configuration. ### How much does Drupal support cost? dijitul plans cost £25, £50 or £99 a month + VAT. Ad-hoc fixes are £45 an hour + VAT, with a 30-minute minimum. Major upgrades and migrations are quoted after an audit. ### Can you support a Drupal site with custom modules? Yes. dijitul reviews custom modules for deprecated code and compatibility before any upgrade. Very large custom builds may be quoted as a project rather than covered by a monthly plan. Ad-hoc Magento work is £45 an hour + VAT, monthly plans start at £25 a month + VAT, and version upgrades are quoted. ## Common symptoms - Products or price changes not showing on the front end - Admin shows "One or more indexers are invalid" - Checkout spins forever or shows a blank payment step - "There has been an error processing your request" with an error log number - Order emails not sending because cron has stopped - Search returns nothing after a hosting change ## Key facts - Magento 2.4.8 was released on 8 April 2025 and is supported to April 2028 - Magento 2.4.6 security support ended 14 March 2026; 2.4.5 and 2.4.6 software support ends 11 August 2026 - Upgrades done with Composer on staging, with extension compatibility checked first - Indexers, cron, Elasticsearch or OpenSearch and Redis issues diagnosed - Magento 1 stores (end of life June 2020) migrated or replaced, quoted - Ad-hoc £45 an hour + VAT; plans from £25 a month + VAT ## Magento versions and support dates Magento 2 (now Adobe Commerce, with a free Magento Open Source edition) is powerful but demanding. Each 2.4.x release has a fixed support window, and running an unsupported version means missing security patches on a system that handles customer and payment data. | Version | Released | Support | | 2.4.6 | March 2023 | Security support ended 14 March 2026; software support ends 11 August 2026 | | 2.4.7 | April 2024 | Supported to April 2027 | | 2.4.8 | April 2025 | Supported to April 2028 | Adobe supports upgrading directly from 2.4.5 or 2.4.6 to 2.4.8. Magento 1 has had no official patches since June 2020; if you are still on it, a replatform is overdue. ## Common Magento problems we fix - **Invalid indexers:** product, price or stock changes not appearing on the front end because indexers are stuck or set to the wrong mode. We reset and reindex with *bin/magento indexer:reindex* and set "Update by Schedule" with working cron. - **Cron not running:** order emails, indexing, sitemaps and currency rates all depend on cron. A missing crontab after a server move is common. - **Search broken:** Magento 2.4 requires Elasticsearch or OpenSearch. If the search engine service is down or the wrong version, catalogue search and sometimes category pages fail. - **Error report numbers:** "There has been an error processing your request" writes a report to *var/report*. We read it to find the failing module. - **Static content and cache:** missing CSS after deployment because static content was not deployed for the right locale, or Varnish and Redis caches not cleared. - **Checkout problems:** JavaScript errors from third-party extensions, payment module incompatibility or a misconfigured Content Security Policy. ## Patching and upgrading Magento Adobe releases security patches on a regular schedule, sometimes with isolated hotfixes for urgent issues. Applying them is not a one-click job: we apply the patch or upgrade through Composer on a staging copy, run *setup:upgrade*, compile dependency injection, deploy static content, then test catalogue, cart, checkout and admin before repeating on live in maintenance mode. The biggest upgrade risk is extensions. Marketplace and third-party modules must support the new version and its PHP requirement. We list every module, check vendor compatibility, and update, replace or remove as needed. Upgrades are quoted, because a store with five extensions and one with fifty are very different jobs. See also [PHP version upgrade](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/php-version-upgrade/). ## Security on Magento stores Magento stores are attractive targets for card skimming attacks that inject JavaScript into checkout. We keep the store patched, check admin users and integrations, make sure the admin URL is not the default, enforce two-factor authentication for admin, and monitor for unexpected changes in files and the *core_config_data* table where skimmers often hide. If you suspect a compromise, see [hacked website repair](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/hacked-website-repair/). ## Hosting requirements and performance Magento 2 needs more from its server than most platforms: a supported PHP version, MySQL or MariaDB, OpenSearch or Elasticsearch, and ideally Redis for cache and sessions and Varnish for full-page cache. Running it on basic shared hosting is a common cause of slow category pages and timeouts during checkout. When a Magento store is slow we check whether full-page cache is actually being hit, whether the store is in production mode rather than developer or default mode, and whether third-party extensions are adding heavy observers or plugins to every request. See [website speed optimisation](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/website-speed-optimisation/) for the wider approach. ## Magento support prices Ad-hoc Magento fixes are **£45 an hour + VAT**, 30-minute minimum then 15-minute blocks. For ongoing care, our plans run from **£25 a month + VAT** (Essential: updates applied and checked, daily backups, uptime and security monitoring), through **£50 a month + VAT** (Business: plus an hour of fixes and priority support) to **£99 a month + VAT** (Complete: three hours a month plus IT and Microsoft 365 helpdesk). Because Magento upgrades vary so much, they are quoted. Large custom builds may involve our development team at [dijitul developments](https://dijituldevelopments.co.uk/). See [ecommerce support](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/ecommerce-support/) or [request a quote](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/quote/). ## FAQs ### Which Magento version should I be on? A 2.4.x release that is still inside Adobe's support window. Magento 2.4.8, released in April 2025, is supported to April 2028. dijitul can check your version and quote an upgrade. ### Why are my Magento product changes not showing? Usually invalid indexers or stopped cron. Magento needs cron running to process scheduled indexing. dijitul checks the crontab, reindexes and clears caches, typically as a short ad-hoc fix at £45 an hour + VAT. ### How much does a Magento upgrade cost? It depends on your current version, PHP version, hosting and how many extensions you run. dijitul quotes Magento upgrades after an audit, because a lightly customised store and a heavily extended one are very different jobs. ### Is Magento 1 still safe? No. Magento 1 has had no official security patches since June 2020. Stores still on it should move to Magento 2 or another platform. dijitul can advise and quote a migration. ### Can you work on Adobe Commerce Cloud? Yes, for application-level work such as extensions, configuration, patches and code fixes. Infrastructure on Adobe Commerce Cloud is managed by Adobe, so platform-level incidents such as server outages or environment faults go to Adobe support, and dijitul can help you raise them. ## Pricing and contact Support plans from £25 a month + VAT, or £45 an hour + VAT for one-off fixes. Care plans start at £25 a month + VAT, one-off fixes are £45 an hour + VAT, and major upgrades are quoted. ## Common symptoms - A blank page or HTTP 500 error after installing a module - Changes to the theme not appearing because of cache - Customers cannot complete checkout or payment module errors - 1-Click Upgrade fails part way through - Back office very slow or logging you out - Products missing from category pages or search ## Key facts - PrestaShop 9.0.0 became available in July 2025, built on Symfony 6.4 - PrestaShop 9 officially supports PHP 8.1 to 8.4 - Module compatibility checked before every upgrade - Class overrides and theme customisations reviewed for upgrade safety - Debug mode, cache and Smarty compile problems diagnosed - £45 an hour + VAT ad hoc; plans from £25 a month + VAT; upgrades quoted ## PrestaShop versions in use PrestaShop is popular with European and UK retailers who want a self-hosted shop without WooCommerce. Many stores still run 1.6 or 1.7, which are well past their prime and rely on old PHP versions. PrestaShop 8 brought PHP 8 support, and PrestaShop 9, available since July 2025, moves to Symfony 6.4, a back office rendered fully in Symfony, a new Admin API and the Hummingbird theme. It requires PHP 8.1 or higher. Each of those jumps can break modules and themes, so upgrades need planning rather than a click in the back office. ## PrestaShop faults we fix - **Blank page or 500 error:** we turn on debug mode (*_PS_MODE_DEV_* in *config/defines.inc.php*) on a safe copy or briefly on live to see the real error, then disable or fix the faulty module. - **Changes not showing:** Smarty compile cache, CCC (combine, compress, cache) settings or a CDN serving old files. We clear *var/cache* and set cache options sensibly. - **Override conflicts:** modules that override core classes in */override* can clash with each other or break after an upgrade. We review them and remove stale overrides. - **Checkout and payment errors:** payment modules that are not updated for your PrestaShop version, or carrier and zone settings that leave customers with no shipping option. - **Failed upgrades:** 1-Click Upgrade (autoupgrade module) timing out on shared hosting, leaving a half-upgraded shop. We restore from backup and upgrade properly. ## Upgrading PrestaShop safely - Full backup of files and database, tested on a staging copy. - List every module and theme, and check the developer's compatibility with the target version on PrestaShop Addons or the vendor site. - Upgrade the staging copy, step by step for very old versions. - Fix or replace incompatible modules, rebuild theme customisations if moving to a new theme. - Test product pages, cart, checkout, payments, order emails and invoices. - Repeat on live during a quiet period. Upgrades from 1.6 are often closer to a rebuild, and moving to another platform may make sense. These are quoted. See [website migration support](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/website-migration-support/). ## Security and maintenance PrestaShop sites are targeted through vulnerable third-party modules more than the core itself. We keep modules updated, remove unused ones, rename the admin folder if it has been left guessable, check employee accounts and permissions, and enforce HTTPS across the shop. If your shop has been hacked or customers report card fraud after buying from you, treat it as urgent: see [hacked website repair](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/hacked-website-repair/). ## Speed and day-to-day shop management Slow PrestaShop shops usually come down to a few things: too many front-office modules hooked into every page, debug mode left on, Smarty set to recompile templates on every request, or large unoptimised product images. We check Advanced Parameters > Performance, disable modules that are installed but unused, and regenerate image thumbnails at sensible sizes. We also help with routine shop tasks that take time when you do not do them often: bulk product imports from CSV, setting up carriers and zones for UK and EU delivery, tax rules after a VAT change, customer group pricing, cart rules for promotions, and order status emails. On the Business and Complete plans these can come out of your included monthly hours. ## PrestaShop support prices One-off PrestaShop fixes are **£45 an hour + VAT**, with a 30-minute minimum then 15-minute blocks. Our plans start at **£25 a month + VAT** for updates applied and checked, daily backups, uptime and security monitoring. **Business at £50 a month + VAT** adds an hour of fixes or changes each month and priority support. **Complete at £99 a month + VAT** gives three hours a month plus IT and Microsoft 365 helpdesk. Major upgrades and migrations are quoted. See our [ecommerce support](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/ecommerce-support/) overview or [get in touch](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/contact/). ## FAQs ### Should I upgrade PrestaShop 1.7 to PrestaShop 9? Yes, in time. PrestaShop 9 runs on Symfony 6.4 and supports PHP 8.1 to 8.4, while 1.7 relies on older PHP versions. The jump can break modules and themes, so dijitul audits compatibility and quotes the upgrade first. ### Why does my PrestaShop shop show a blank page? It is usually a PHP fatal error from a module or override. Enabling debug mode shows the real error. dijitul can find and fix the cause, typically as an ad-hoc job at £45 an hour + VAT. ### Why are my PrestaShop theme changes not appearing? Cached templates are the usual cause. Clearing the cache in Advanced Parameters > Performance, or the var/cache folder, normally fixes it. dijitul can also review cache and CCC settings so it stops recurring. ### Is the 1-Click Upgrade module safe? It works on many shops but can time out on shared hosting or fail with incompatible modules. Always back up first. dijitul upgrades on a staging copy so a failed upgrade never affects your live shop. ### How much is PrestaShop support? dijitul charges £45 an hour + VAT for one-off PrestaShop work, with a 30-minute minimum then 15-minute blocks. Monthly plans are £25, £50 or £99 a month + VAT. Major upgrades and migrations are quoted after an audit. Ad-hoc fixes cost £45 an hour + VAT, care plans start at £25 a month + VAT, and major upgrades are quoted. ## Common symptoms - Blank pages or errors after installing an extension - Changes from an extension not appearing until modifications are refreshed - "Warning: You do not have permission to access the API" in orders - Errors appearing after your host moved to PHP 8 - Checkout gets stuck at the payment method step - Admin login refuses to stay signed in ## Key facts - OpenCart 4.1.0.4, released August 2026, adds PHP 8.5 compatibility - OpenCart 3.0.5.1 is the current maintenance release on the 3.x branch - OpenCart 4 extensions are not compatible with 3.x, so upgrades need an extension plan - OCMOD and vQmod modification caches refreshed and conflicts traced - Payment and shipping extensions tested after every change - £45 an hour + VAT ad hoc; plans from £25 a month + VAT; upgrades quoted ## OpenCart versions and the PHP problem OpenCart is a lightweight, free shopping cart that many small UK retailers chose years ago. Plenty of shops still run OpenCart 2.x or early 3.x on old PHP versions. As hosts withdraw PHP 7, those shops start throwing deprecation notices or fatal errors. The project now maintains two branches: OpenCart 3.0.5.1 and OpenCart 4.1.0.4, both released in 2026 with PHP 8.5 compatibility. OpenCart 4 changed the extension structure substantially, so extensions written for 3.x will not run on 4.x without a new version from the developer. ## OpenCart faults we fix - **Modification problems:** OCMOD (and vQmod on older stores) patch core files at runtime. When two extensions modify the same line, one silently fails. We read the modification log, refresh the cache in Extensions > Modifications and resolve the conflict. - **API permission warning on orders:** the API user's IP is missing from System > Users > API, often after a hosting move. We add the server IP. - **PHP 8 errors:** old extensions using removed functions or old syntax. We patch the code or replace the extension. - **Checkout stuck:** JavaScript errors from theme or extension conflicts, or a payment extension that does not support your OpenCart version. - **Admin session problems:** session path, cookie or HTTPS setting mismatches in *config.php* and *admin/config.php*. - **Storage and error logs:** huge error logs filling disk space, or the storage folder sitting inside the public web root. ## Upgrading OpenCart Upgrading from 2.x or 3.x to OpenCart 4 is less of an in-place update and more of a careful move. Our approach: - Back up and copy the shop to staging. - List every extension, theme and modification, and check whether a 4.x version exists. - Upgrade the core and database on staging using OpenCart's upgrade script. - Install the 4.x versions of extensions, or replace them; rebuild theme customisations. - Test products, options, customer accounts, checkout, payments and order emails before going live. Sometimes staying on the 3.x branch with PHP 8 fixes is the more practical option for a small shop. We give you both costs. Upgrades are quoted; see [PHP version upgrade](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/php-version-upgrade/). ## Keeping an OpenCart shop secure We rename the admin folder if it is still */admin*, move the storage directory outside the web root as OpenCart recommends, remove unused extensions, update the core and extensions, check user groups and permissions, and force HTTPS. If your shop is showing spam or redirects, or customers report card fraud, see [malware removal](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/malware-removal/). ## Everyday OpenCart jobs Beyond fixes, a lot of OpenCart support is routine shop work that owners do not have time for: - Adding or bulk-importing products, options and categories. - Setting up geo zones, tax classes and shipping methods so UK and international delivery rates are right. - Configuring payment extensions for PayPal, Stripe or other gateways and testing them end to end. - Creating coupons, vouchers and customer groups for trade pricing. - Tidying SEO URLs, page titles and meta descriptions, which OpenCart sets per product and category. - Clearing out old carts, sessions and logs that slow the admin. On the Business and Complete plans, these tasks come out of your included monthly hours. Without a plan, they are billed at £45 an hour + VAT in 15-minute blocks after the first 30 minutes, so a quick product change does not cost a full hour. See [content updates](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/content-updates/). ## OpenCart support prices One-off OpenCart fixes are **£45 an hour + VAT**, with a 30-minute minimum then 15-minute blocks. Plans: **Essential £25 a month + VAT** (updates applied and checked, daily backups, uptime and security monitoring), **Business £50 a month + VAT** (plus an hour of fixes and priority support), **Complete £99 a month + VAT** (three hours a month plus IT and Microsoft 365 helpdesk). Major upgrades and migrations are quoted. See our [ecommerce support](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/ecommerce-support/) page or [get in touch](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/contact/). ## FAQs ### What is the latest version of OpenCart? OpenCart 4.1.0.4 was released in August 2026, alongside 3.0.5.1 on the older branch, both adding PHP 8.5 compatibility. dijitul can check your version and advise whether to upgrade or patch. ### Why do my OpenCart extension changes not show? OCMOD modifications are cached. Go to Extensions > Modifications and click Refresh, then clear the theme cache. If changes still fail, another extension may be modifying the same code. dijitul traces and fixes these conflicts. ### Will my OpenCart 3 extensions work on OpenCart 4? No. OpenCart 4 uses a different extension structure, so each extension needs a 4.x version from its developer or a replacement. dijitul audits your extensions, checks which have 4.x releases and quotes the upgrade before any work starts. ### How do I fix the OpenCart API permission warning? Add your server's IP address to the API user under System > Users > API. It usually appears after moving hosts. dijitul can fix it quickly as a short ad-hoc job at £45 an hour + VAT. ### Is OpenCart still a good choice? For small catalogues with simple needs it still works well if kept updated. Shops needing many integrations may be better on WooCommerce or Shopify. dijitul gives an honest recommendation after looking at your setup. Both are hosted platforms that run their own servers and updates, so we support everything you control. Ad-hoc help is £45 an hour + VAT, with plans from £25 a month + VAT. ## Common symptoms - Your domain shows a parking page or "site not found" instead of your website - Emails stopped working after connecting the domain to Wix or Squarespace - Form submissions go to an inbox nobody checks - You cannot find the setting to change a page title or meta description - A third-party booking or payment integration has stopped working - The site looks wrong on mobile after editing the desktop layout ## Key facts - Wix and Squarespace are hosted: the provider runs servers, software updates, security and SSL - We support content, design, settings, apps, DNS, email records and integrations - Domain connection fixes, including domains moved from Google Domains to Squarespace - Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace email records added without breaking the site - Forms, bookings and notification emails checked end to end - £45 an hour + VAT ad hoc; plans from £25 a month + VAT ## What we support on hosted platforms Wix and Squarespace are hosted website builders. The provider owns the servers, applies all software updates, handles platform security and issues SSL certificates. There are no plugins to update and no server to patch, and if the platform itself has an outage only Wix or Squarespace can fix it. That does not mean these sites look after themselves. What you control, and what we help with, is: - **Content and layout:** page edits, new pages, galleries, blogs and mobile layout fixes. - **Settings:** SEO titles and descriptions, redirects, cookie banners, site visibility, contributors and permissions. - **Domains and DNS:** connecting domains, fixing records, keeping email working. - **Apps and integrations:** Wix apps, Squarespace extensions, booking tools, payment providers, analytics and marketing tags. - **Commerce:** product setup, shipping, tax and checkout settings on Wix Stores and Squarespace Commerce. ## Domains, DNS and email Most problems we see on these platforms are DNS. Connecting a domain to Wix usually means changing nameservers or pointing records, and a nameserver change moves your whole DNS zone. If your MX, SPF and DKIM records for Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace are not recreated first, email stops the moment the change goes live. Squarespace took over Google Domains registrations in 2023, so many UK businesses now manage their domain in Squarespace without realising. We help you find where the domain and DNS actually live, then set records correctly: A and CNAME records for the website, MX for mail, SPF, DKIM and DMARC for deliverability, and verification TXT records for Microsoft, Google and other services. See [domain and DNS support](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/domain-dns-support/) and [email support](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/email-support/). ## Common Wix and Squarespace fixes - **Mobile layout:** Wix has a separate mobile editor in its classic editor, so desktop changes can leave mobile broken. We tidy both views. - **Forms:** submissions sent to an old email address, or stored but not notified. We check form storage, notification settings and spam filtering. - **SEO basics:** page titles, meta descriptions, URL slugs, 301 redirects after a rebuild, and connecting Google Search Console. See [SEO support](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/seo-support/). - **Tracking and cookies:** adding Google Analytics 4 and tags through the platform's settings or code injection, with consent handled properly. See [cookie consent compliance](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/cookie-consent-compliance/). - **Integrations:** booking systems, newsletter tools and payment providers that stop working after a plan or domain change. ## Staying or moving Wix and Squarespace suit many small businesses well: low maintenance, built-in hosting and SSL, and easy editing. They become limiting when you need complex ecommerce, specific integrations or full control of code and performance. Neither platform offers a full site export you can import elsewhere, so a move to WordPress means rebuilding the design and copying content. We will give you an honest view. If a move makes sense, it is quoted; see [website migration support](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/website-migration-support/). ## Getting access sorted A surprising number of Wix and Squarespace problems start with access. The site was set up by a former employee or a freelancer on their own account, the domain is registered somewhere else in someone else's name, and nobody knows the logins. We help you untangle it: work out which account owns the site, request a site transfer to an account your business controls, add us as a contributor or collaborator rather than sharing your password, and move domain ownership to your business. On Wix this uses the site transfer and roles features; on Squarespace, contributor permissions and site ownership transfer. Once access is in your name, you are not dependent on any one person, including us. ## Wix and Squarespace support prices Because the provider handles updates and hosting, most Wix and Squarespace owners use us as needed at **£45 an hour + VAT**, 30-minute minimum then 15-minute blocks. If you want regular content changes, the **Business plan at £50 a month + VAT** includes an hour each month and priority support, and **Complete at £99 a month + VAT** gives three hours plus IT and Microsoft 365 helpdesk for your team. See [content updates](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/content-updates/) or [get in touch](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/contact/). ## FAQs ### Do Wix and Squarespace sites need maintenance? They do not need software updates or server patching, because the provider handles that. They still need content kept current, DNS and email records maintained, forms checked and integrations working. dijitul helps with all of these from £45 an hour + VAT. ### Why did my email stop after connecting my domain to Wix? Changing nameservers to Wix moves your whole DNS zone, and MX and other email records must be recreated there. If they were not, email stops. dijitul can add the correct Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace records to restore it. ### My domain was with Google Domains. Where is it now? Google Domains registrations moved to Squarespace in 2023, so your domain and DNS are likely managed in a Squarespace Domains account. dijitul can help you find and access it, then check the records. ### Can you fix a problem with Wix or Squarespace servers? No. Platform outages and server issues are handled by Wix or Squarespace. dijitul supports what you control: content, settings, apps, DNS and integrations, and can help you raise a clear support ticket with the provider. ### Can I move from Wix or Squarespace to WordPress? Yes, but neither offers a full export you can import, so the design is rebuilt and the content moved across. dijitul quotes migrations after reviewing your site, and sets up 301 redirects from old URLs so you keep your search rankings. ## Pricing and contact Support plans from £25 a month + VAT, or £45 an hour + VAT for one-off fixes. Every plan includes core, plugin and theme updates applied and checked, daily backups, uptime monitoring and security monitoring. Higher plans add monthly fix time and priority support, and ad-hoc maintenance work is £45 an hour + VAT. ## Common symptoms - Your dashboard shows a long list of pending updates - You do not know when the site was last backed up, or whether the backup works - You only find out the site is down when a customer tells you - Your host has warned that your PHP version is being retired - Premium plugin or extension licences have quietly expired - Small text and image changes sit on a to-do list for months ## Key facts - Essential £25 a month + VAT: updates applied and checked, daily backups, uptime and security monitoring - Business £50 a month + VAT: adds 1 hour of fixes or changes a month and priority support - Complete £99 a month + VAT: 3 hours a month plus IT and Microsoft 365 helpdesk - A backup is taken before updates, and key pages and forms are checked after - Works with WordPress, WooCommerce, Joomla, Drupal, Magento, PrestaShop and OpenCart - No long setup: we start with a health check of your current site ## What website maintenance actually involves Maintenance is the routine work that stops a website from breaking or being hacked. It is less exciting than a redesign, but it is what keeps the site earning. On a dijitul plan, it covers: - **Updates applied and checked:** CMS core, plugins or extensions, and themes. We do not just click update; we check the home page, key pages, forms and checkout afterwards. - **Daily backups:** files and database, stored away from your web server, so a hacked or failed server does not take the backups with it. See [website backups](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/website-backups/). - **Uptime monitoring:** the site is checked around the clock and we are alerted if it stops responding. See [website downtime monitoring](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/website-downtime-monitoring/). - **Security monitoring:** watching for known vulnerabilities in installed software, suspicious file changes and blocklist warnings. See [website security](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/website-security/). ## Why monthly maintenance matters Software you never update becomes software with known holes. Patchstack's State of WordPress Security report recorded 11,334 new vulnerabilities in the WordPress ecosystem in 2025, a 42% increase on 2024. Joomla, Drupal, Magento and PrestaShop all publish their own security releases too. Automated attacks scan the web for those exact versions within days of disclosure. At the same time, hosts retire old PHP versions, SSL and payment integrations change, and browsers drop support for old code. A site left alone for two years often needs a much bigger fix than one updated monthly. Regular, small updates are cheaper than one large emergency. ## Our maintenance routine - **Backup:** fresh backup before any change. - **Review:** check changelogs for major releases, such as page builder jumps, WooCommerce database updates or a new Joomla or Drupal minor version. - **Update:** apply core, plugin, extension and theme updates. - **Check:** load key pages, submit a test form, test checkout on shops, and scan the browser console and server error log. - **Roll back if needed:** if an update breaks something, we restore the previous version and look for a compatible fix. - **Report:** a record of what was updated and anything that needs your decision, such as a plugin that has been abandoned by its developer. For larger version jumps, such as [PHP version upgrades](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/php-version-upgrade/) or major CMS releases, we plan the work with you; complex upgrades are quoted. ## Choosing the right plan | Plan | Price | Best for | | Essential | £25 a month + VAT | Brochure sites that rarely change: updates applied and checked, daily backups, uptime and security monitoring | | Business | £50 a month + VAT | Sites and shops that need regular tweaks: everything in Essential plus 1 hour of fixes or changes each month and priority support | | Complete | £99 a month + VAT | Businesses wanting one supplier for web and office IT: 3 hours a month plus IT and Microsoft 365 helpdesk | Fix time on Business and Complete can be used for [content updates](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/content-updates/), small design changes or fixes. Work beyond your included time is £45 an hour + VAT. Full details on our [pricing page](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/pricing/). ## What maintenance does not include Being clear about scope avoids surprises. The Essential plan covers routine updates, backups and monitoring. It does not include new features, design changes, content updates or fixing problems unrelated to an update; those are £45 an hour + VAT, or come out of the included hours on Business and Complete. Major version upgrades, such as Joomla 4 to 5, Drupal 10 to 11, Magento 2.4.6 to 2.4.8, or a WordPress site that has not been updated for years, are planned and quoted separately because they can take several hours. Hosting fees, domain renewals and premium plugin licences are paid to those suppliers directly. If an expired licence blocks an update, we tell you before it becomes a problem. ## Hosted platforms On Shopify, Wix and Squarespace the provider applies the software updates and runs the servers, so there is nothing to patch. Maintenance there means keeping apps, content, DNS and integrations in order. See [Shopify support](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/shopify-support/) and [Wix and Squarespace support](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/wix-squarespace-support/). For self-hosted sites, see [WordPress support](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/wordpress-support/) or our main [website support](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/website-support/) page. ## FAQs ### How much does website maintenance cost in the UK? dijitul's website maintenance plans are £25, £50 or £99 a month + VAT. All include updates applied and checked, daily backups, uptime monitoring and security monitoring. Higher plans add monthly fix time and priority support. Ad-hoc work is £45 an hour + VAT. ### How often should a website be updated? Security releases should be applied as soon as practical, and routine plugin and theme updates at least monthly. Leaving updates for months makes each one riskier. dijitul applies updates with a backup first and checks the site afterwards. ### Does the Essential plan include fixes? Essential at £25 a month + VAT covers updates applied and checked, daily backups and monitoring, including rolling back an update that causes a problem. Other fixes and changes are £45 an hour + VAT, or included in Business and Complete. ### Are backups kept off my server? Yes. dijitul stores daily backups away from your web server, so if the server fails, is hacked or is suspended by the host, a clean copy of your files and database is still available for us to restore. ### Do I need maintenance on Shopify, Wix or Squarespace? Those platforms update their own software, so there is nothing to patch. You may still want help with content, apps, DNS and integrations, which dijitul offers ad hoc at £45 an hour + VAT or within a plan. ### What happens if an update breaks my site? On every dijitul plan a backup is taken before updates and key pages are checked afterwards. If an update causes a problem, we roll back the plugin, extension or theme, or restore the backup, then look for a compatible fix. We repair errors, broken layouts, forms that do not send, SSL warnings, plugin and extension faults, and display problems on mobile. The minimum charge is 30 minutes, then 15-minute blocks, and bigger jobs are quoted first. ## Common symptoms - A page layout has broken or overlaps on mobile - The contact form submits but nothing arrives - Browser shows "Not secure" or mixed content warnings - Images or the menu have disappeared after an update - 404 errors on pages that used to work - A plugin or extension shows an error message on the front end ## Key facts - £45 an hour + VAT, 30-minute minimum, then billed in 15-minute blocks - No monthly plan or contract required for one-off fixes - Works on WordPress, WooCommerce, Joomla, Drupal, Magento, PrestaShop, OpenCart, Shopify, Wix and Squarespace - Backup taken before we change anything - Larger jobs are quoted before we start - Done remotely from our Mansfield office ## How one-off fixes work - **Tell us what is wrong:** call 01623 650333, email support@dijitul.uk or use the [contact page](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/contact/). A screenshot and the page address help. - **Access:** we need an admin login, and for most errors hosting or SFTP access too. - **Estimate:** if it looks like more than an hour or two, we tell you before starting. Big jobs are quoted. - **Backup and fix:** backup first, then diagnose and fix. - **Confirm:** we tell you what was wrong, what we changed and how to avoid it happening again. Billing is **£45 an hour + VAT**. The first 30 minutes are the minimum charge, then we bill in 15-minute blocks, so a 40-minute fix is charged as 45 minutes. ## Fixes we do most often - **Forms not sending:** PHP mail blocked by the host, missing SPF or DKIM, or a broken reCAPTCHA key. See [website forms not working](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/website-forms-not-working/). - **SSL and mixed content:** "Not secure" warnings caused by expired certificates or http:// images and scripts on https pages. See [SSL certificate support](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/ssl-certificate-support/). - **Broken layouts:** CSS conflicts after a theme or page builder update, cached old stylesheets, or minification plugins combining files in the wrong order. - **404s and redirects:** permalinks reset after a migration, missing *.htaccess* rules, or pages renamed without a 301 redirect. - **Error messages:** PHP warnings showing on the page because display_errors is on, deprecated function notices after a PHP upgrade, or a fatal error from one plugin. - **Mobile display:** elements wider than the screen, tiny tap targets or menus that will not open on phones. - **Accessibility issues:** missing alt text, poor colour contrast or forms without labels. See [website accessibility fixes](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/website-accessibility-fixes/). ## When a fix becomes a project Some problems are symptoms of something bigger. A site on PHP 7.0 with a theme that has not been updated since 2017 may need a [PHP version upgrade](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/php-version-upgrade/) and theme replacement, not a single fix. A site with dozens of conflicting plugins may need a rebuild. When we find that, we stop, explain the options and quote, rather than running up hours on patches that will not last. If the whole site is down or showing errors on every page, see [broken website repair](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/broken-website-repair/) or [emergency website support](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/emergency-website-support/). If you suspect a hack, go to [hacked website repair](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/hacked-website-repair/). ## Platform-specific fixes The cause of a fault depends heavily on the platform, so we approach each differently: - **WordPress and WooCommerce:** plugin conflicts found by disabling plugins in turn on a staging copy, PHP errors from the debug log, and checkout problems caused by caching. See [WordPress support](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/wordpress-support/) and [WooCommerce support](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/woocommerce-support/). - **Joomla and Drupal:** extension or module errors after updates, broken SEF URLs, and cache or configuration drift. See [Joomla support](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/joomla-support/) and [Drupal support](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/drupal-support/). - **Magento, PrestaShop and OpenCart:** indexers, cron, override and modification conflicts. See [Magento support](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/magento-support/), [PrestaShop support](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/prestashop-support/) and [OpenCart support](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/opencart-support/). - **Shopify, Wix and Squarespace:** theme code, app leftovers, DNS and settings. See [Shopify support](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/shopify-support/) and [Wix and Squarespace support](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/wix-squarespace-support/). ## Slow pages and speed scores A common one-off request is "Google says my site is slow". PageSpeed Insights and Core Web Vitals reports point to the usual culprits: oversized hero images, render-blocking scripts, web fonts loading late, layout shift from adverts or cookie banners, and slow server response. Some of these are quick fixes, such as compressing images, adding width and height attributes or deferring a script. Others, like replacing a heavy theme or changing host, are bigger and we will quote. See [Core Web Vitals fixes](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/core-web-vitals-fixes/). ## Fixes on a plan instead If you need fixes every month or two, a plan usually works out better. The **Business plan at £50 a month + VAT** includes 1 hour of fixes or changes each month and priority support, plus updates applied and checked, daily backups, uptime and security monitoring. The **Complete plan at £99 a month + VAT** includes 3 hours a month and IT and Microsoft 365 helpdesk for your team. See [website maintenance](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/website-maintenance/) and [pricing](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/pricing/). ## FAQs ### How much does it cost to fix a website? dijitul charges £45 an hour + VAT for one-off website fixes. The first 30 minutes are the minimum charge, then billing is in 15-minute blocks. If a job looks like it will take longer than expected, we tell you or quote before carrying on. ### Do I need a support plan to get a fix? No. dijitul fixes one-off problems without a plan or contract at £45 an hour + VAT. If you need regular fixes, the Business plan at £50 a month + VAT includes an hour of fix time each month. ### What do you need from me to fix my website? An admin login for the website and, for most errors, hosting control panel or SFTP access. A description of the problem, the page address and a screenshot help dijitul diagnose it faster. ### Can you fix a website another company built? Yes. Most fixes dijitul does are on sites built by other developers or agencies. We take a backup first and document what we change, so nothing is lost if you go back to the original developer. ### Why is my contact form not sending emails? Common causes are the host blocking PHP mail, missing SPF or DKIM records so messages land in spam, or an expired reCAPTCHA key. dijitul usually fixes this by sending through authenticated SMTP and correcting DNS records. ## Pricing and contact Support plans from £25 a month + VAT, or £45 an hour + VAT for one-off fixes. Clients on our Business (£50 a month + VAT) and Complete (£99 a month + VAT) plans get priority support. Call 01623 650333 or 07425 323333 and tell us what you see. ## Common symptoms - The site will not load at all, or shows "This site can't be reached" - Every page shows a 500 error, 503 Service Unavailable or a critical error - Your domain has expired and shows a registrar parking page - Google shows "This site may be hacked" or browsers show a red warning - The checkout has stopped taking payments - Your host has suspended the account for malware or resource use ## Key facts - Call 01623 650333 (office) or 07425 323333 (mobile), or email support@dijitul.uk - Emergency fixes are £45 an hour + VAT, 30-minute minimum, then 15-minute blocks - Business and Complete plan clients get priority support - First step is always to find out whether the problem is the site, the hosting, DNS or the domain - Backups taken before changes, where the server allows - Existing clients can raise a ticket at clients.dijitul.uk ## What to do in the first ten minutes - **Check it is not just you:** try the site on mobile data rather than office Wi-Fi, and in a private browser window. - **Check your email:** look for messages from your host, domain registrar or WordPress ("Your site is experiencing a technical issue"). - **Do not keep clicking update or restore:** repeated attempts can make a partial failure worse or overwrite a good backup. - **Call us:** 01623 650333 or 07425 323333. Have your hosting company name and, if you have them, admin and hosting logins ready. ## How we triage an emergency A site "being down" can mean very different things. We work through the layers in order, because the fix depends on where the fault is: - **Domain:** has it expired or been suspended at the registrar? A WHOIS lookup tells us in seconds. - **DNS:** do the A and CNAME records still point at the right server? A changed nameserver or deleted record takes the site and often email offline. See [domain and DNS support](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/domain-dns-support/). - **Hosting:** is the server up, is the account suspended, has disk space or an inode limit been hit? - **SSL:** has the certificate expired, giving visitors a full-page browser warning? See [SSL certificate support](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/ssl-certificate-support/). - **Application:** is WordPress, Joomla, Magento or the shop throwing a fatal error from a plugin, extension or failed update? - **Security:** is the site hacked, redirecting or blocklisted? Once we know the layer, we fix it or tell you exactly who needs to act, for example a hosting provider with a hardware fault. ## Common emergencies and fixes - **Critical error after an update:** disable the faulty plugin or extension over SFTP or in the database, restore the site, then find a compatible version. - **Expired domain:** renew through the registrar if still in the grace period, then check DNS is intact. - **Database connection errors:** credentials, a crashed table or the database server itself. - **Host suspension:** usually malware or an overloaded site. We clean or optimise and work with the host to lift it. - **Hacked site:** contain, clean and restore. See [hacked website repair](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/hacked-website-repair/). - **Total loss:** restore from the most recent clean backup. If there is no backup, we check the host's own backups and archived copies. ## Prices and priority Emergency work is charged at the standard ad-hoc rate: **£45 an hour + VAT**, with a 30-minute minimum then 15-minute blocks. No plan is needed. We do the work remotely, so location in the UK does not matter. Clients on the **Business plan (£50 a month + VAT)** and **Complete plan (£99 a month + VAT)** get priority support, and their included monthly hours can be used for urgent fixes. Every plan, including **Essential at £25 a month + VAT**, includes daily backups and uptime monitoring, which makes emergencies rarer and faster to recover from. See [website maintenance](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/website-maintenance/) and [downtime monitoring](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/website-downtime-monitoring/). ## Information that speeds up a fix In an emergency, most lost time goes on finding logins. If you can, have these ready when you call: - Who hosts the site and the hosting control panel login (cPanel, Plesk or a custom panel). - Where the domain is registered, and the registrar login. - A website admin login, if it still works. - What changed recently: an update, a new plugin, a hosting move, a DNS change, a new developer. - The exact error message or a screenshot. If you do not have them, we can still start: we look up the host and registrar from public DNS and WHOIS records and help you recover access through them. ## Preventing the next emergency Most website emergencies trace back to one of four causes: an unchecked update, no working backup, an expired domain or certificate, or an unpatched vulnerability. A maintenance plan covers the first, second and fourth, and keeping domain and certificate renewals on auto-renew with a current card covers the third. Once your site is back, we will tell you plainly what caused the problem and what would stop it happening again. Check it on mobile data and in a private browser window, then look for emails from your host or domain registrar. Avoid repeated update or restore attempts. Then call dijitul on 01623 650333 or 07425 323333 with your hosting details ready. ### How much does emergency website support cost? dijitul charges the same rate for emergencies as other ad-hoc work: £45 an hour + VAT, with a 30-minute minimum then 15-minute blocks. No plan or contract is needed, and the work is done remotely, so it makes no difference where in the UK you are. ### Do plan clients get faster help? Yes. Clients on dijitul's Business plan at £50 a month + VAT and Complete plan at £99 a month + VAT get priority support, and can use their included monthly hours on urgent fixes. ### Can you fix my site if I have no backups? Often, yes. Many failures are a single faulty plugin or setting that can be fixed in place. If data is lost, dijitul checks your host's backups and archived copies. Every dijitul plan includes daily backups to prevent this. ### Is my site down because of my host? Possibly. Outages can come from the domain, DNS, hosting, SSL certificate or the website software itself. dijitul works through each layer to find the cause and either fixes it or tells you who needs to act. ### Can you help if my domain has expired? Yes. If the domain is still in its grace or redemption period, it can usually be renewed through the registrar. dijitul helps you regain access to the registrar account and checks DNS and email records afterwards. ## Pricing and contact Support plans from £25 a month + VAT, or £45 an hour + VAT for one-off fixes. Clean-ups cost £45 an hour + VAT, or are quoted for larger sites. ## Common symptoms - Google results show Japanese, pharma or casino spam under your domain - Visitors on mobile are redirected to scam or adult sites - Chrome shows a red "Deceptive site ahead" or "Dangerous site" warning - Admin accounts you did not create, or you are locked out - Your host has suspended the account for malware or spam sending - Customers report card fraud after buying from your online shop ## Key facts - Entry point found and closed, not just symptoms cleaned - Files and database cleaned; core files replaced with clean copies - All passwords, keys and salts reset; unknown admin users removed - Google Search Console security issues reviewed and reconsideration requested - Works on WordPress, WooCommerce, Joomla, Drupal, Magento, PrestaShop and OpenCart - £45 an hour + VAT or quoted; plans from £25 a month + VAT include security monitoring ## Signs your website has been hacked Many hacks are designed to be invisible to the site owner. Attackers often show spam or redirects only to search engines or mobile visitors, and hide from logged-in administrators. Common signs: - Search Google for *site:yourdomain.co.uk* and see pages you never created. - Google Search Console reports a security issue or manual action. - Your host sends a malware or outbound spam warning. - New admin users, changed admin email addresses, or new files with random names in the uploads folder. - The site suddenly slows down or uses far more server resources than normal. Hacks are common. The UK Government's Cyber Security Breaches Survey 2025 found 43% of UK businesses reported a breach or attack in the previous 12 months. ## How we repair a hacked site - **Contain:** put the site into maintenance mode or block public access if it is harming visitors, and take a forensic copy of the hacked state. - **Find the entry point:** server access logs, recently modified files, outdated plugins or extensions with known vulnerabilities, weak or reused passwords, or a compromised hosting account. - **Clean files:** replace CMS core with clean copies from the official source, reinstall plugins and themes from trusted sources, and hunt backdoors such as obfuscated PHP using *eval*, *base64_decode* or *gzinflate*, and PHP files hidden in upload folders. - **Clean the database:** injected scripts in posts, options and widgets, spam pages, rogue admin users, and malicious cron entries. - **Close the hole:** update or remove the vulnerable component. - **Reset credentials:** CMS admin, database, SFTP, hosting control panel and API keys, plus WordPress salts or equivalent secrets. - **Request reviews:** submit a review in Google Search Console and check other blocklists. Full detail on the cleaning process is on our [malware removal](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/malware-removal/) page. ## Restore from backup or clean in place? If you have a clean backup from before the hack and the content has not changed much since, restoring it is often quickest. But a backup only helps if you also close the hole; otherwise the site is reinfected within days. And many hacks sit unnoticed for weeks, so recent backups may already contain the malware. We compare backups against the hacked site to choose the cleanest starting point, then patch before going live. Every dijitul plan includes daily backups stored off the server. See [website backups](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/website-backups/). ## Shops, customer data and your legal duties If your site handles customer data or payments, a hack may be a personal data breach under UK GDPR. The ICO expects reportable breaches to be reported within 72 hours of you becoming aware. We help you work out what data the site held and what the attacker could reach, so you can make that decision with the facts. See [GDPR IT compliance](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/gdpr-it-compliance/). On WooCommerce, Magento, PrestaShop and OpenCart, we check checkout pages and settings for card skimming scripts, which often hide in the database rather than files. Also tell your payment provider if you suspect card data was exposed. ## Hardening after the clean-up Cleaning a site without hardening it is like changing the locks but leaving a window open. After every repair we: - Remove unused plugins, extensions, themes and old copies of the site left in subfolders. - Turn on two-factor authentication for every admin account and remove shared logins. - Set correct file permissions and disable PHP execution in upload folders. - Disable in-dashboard file editing where the platform allows it. - Make sure the site runs a supported PHP version. - Set up off-server daily backups and monitoring so a repeat is spotted quickly. ## Prices and keeping it clean Hacked site repair is charged at **£45 an hour + VAT** (30-minute minimum, then 15-minute blocks). Heavily infected or very large sites are quoted after an initial assessment. Afterwards, a plan from **£25 a month + VAT** keeps software updated and checked, takes daily backups and monitors uptime and security, which is the best defence against a repeat. See [website security](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/website-security/) and [cyber security support](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/cyber-security-support/). If it is happening now, see [emergency website support](https://dijitulsupport.co.uk/emergency-website-support/). ## FAQs ### How do I know if my website has been hacked? Warning signs include spam pages in Google results for your domain, redirects to other sites on mobile, browser security warnings, unknown admin users and host suspension notices. dijitul can check the site and confirm whether it is compromised. ### How much does it cost to fix a hacked website? dijitul charges £45 an hour + VAT for hacked website repair, with a 30-minute minimum then 15-minute blocks. Also called the Japanese keyword hack. - **Malicious redirects:** code that sends visitors, often only on mobile or on their first visit, to scam sites. Usually injected into JavaScript files, *.htaccess* or database options. - **Card skimmers:** JavaScript on checkout pages that copies payment details as customers type them. - **Cryptominers and spam mailers:** scripts that use your server's resources or send spam from your domain, getting the host to suspend you and your email blocklisted. ## Our malware removal process - **Snapshot:** copy the infected site so evidence is kept and nothing is lost. - **Scan files:** compare core files to official checksums (for WordPress, *wp core verify-checksums*), search for obfuscation patterns such as *eval(*, *base64_decode*, *str_rot13* and *preg_replace* with the /e modifier, list recently modified files and look for PHP in folders that should only hold images. - **Scan the database:** search posts, options, widgets and config tables for injected *
