Why websites go out of date
Almost every small business website starts accurate and slowly drifts. Prices change, staff come and go, a service is added, the office phone number changes, and the person who knew how to log in has left. Page builders such as Elementor, Divi and WPBakery make it easy to break a layout with one wrong drag, so people stop trying. The result is a site that undersells the business, or worse, gives customers wrong information.
Out-of-date content also costs you in search and AI answers. Google and AI assistants read your pages to understand what you do. If your services page has not changed since 2019, that is the picture they get.
What we can update for you
- Text and prices. Service descriptions, price lists, opening hours, contact details, FAQs.
- New pages. Service pages, location pages, campaign landing pages, built in your existing design.
- Blog and news. You send the words in a Word document or email, we format, add headings and images, and publish or schedule them.
- Images. Resized, compressed and given sensible file names and alt text, rather than uploaded as 6MB phone photos straight off the camera roll, which is one of the most common reasons small business pages load slowly.
- Team and people. New starters added, leavers removed, photos and job titles updated.
- Documents. PDFs, menus, brochures and forms replaced, and old versions removed so search engines do not keep sending people to them.
- Menus and navigation. Adding, removing or reordering pages.
- Legal pages. Updating privacy and cookie notices with the wording you or your advisers provide.
- Shop content. Product descriptions, images, prices and categories on WooCommerce or Shopify.
How it works
- Email support@dijitul.uk or raise a ticket in the client portal with what you want changed, plus any text or images.
- We make the change, check it on desktop and mobile, and clear the cache so it shows straight away.
- We reply with the link so you can see it live.
For bigger changes, such as a new section of the site, we can build it on a staging copy first so you can review it before it goes live. We keep a backup before any significant change, so nothing is lost if you change your mind.
Doing it properly, not just quickly
Small details make a difference to how a page performs. When we add content we use a proper heading structure (one H1, then H2s and H3s in order), write descriptive link text instead of "click here", give images meaningful alt text, and keep the page title and meta description sensible. We also check colour contrast on any new buttons or banners. These habits help visitors using screen readers, help search engines and AI tools understand the page, and keep the site fast. See website accessibility fixes and SEO support for more.

If you would rather do it yourself
Some clients prefer to make simple edits themselves and hand us the fiddly ones. That works well. We can set up an editor account with only the permissions you need, and show you how to edit text and images safely without touching the layout. If something does go wrong, we can roll the page back from its revision history or a backup, usually in a few minutes.

Frequently asked questions
How much do website content updates cost?
dijitul support charges £45 an hour + VAT for ad-hoc edits, with a 30-minute minimum then 15-minute blocks. If you make changes most months, the Business plan at £50 a month + VAT includes an hour of changes, plus updates, backups and monitoring.
How do I send you changes?
Email support@dijitul.uk or raise a ticket through the client portal at clients.dijitul.uk. Include the page address, what you want changed, and any new text or images. dijitul support makes the change and replies with the live link.
Can you update a website someone else built?
Yes. dijitul support works on sites built by other agencies and freelancers, on WordPress, WooCommerce, Shopify, Joomla, Drupal, Wix and Squarespace. We just need a login, or help you get one back if the original developer is no longer around.
Can you write the content too?
We can tidy and format your text, and adjust headings and links so the page reads well and is search-friendly. For larger copywriting, it is usually best if you provide the substance, since you know your business. Time spent is charged at £45 an hour + VAT or from plan hours.
Will updates break my page builder layout?
Not when we do them. We are used to Elementor, Divi, WPBakery, Gutenberg and theme builders, check every change on desktop and mobile, and take a backup before larger edits so anything can be undone.
