IT support sized for a small team
In a small business, IT is usually somebody's side job. The owner or office manager resets passwords, buys laptops and calls the broadband company when things go wrong. That works until it does not: a laptop dies with the only copy of the price list on it, or a leaver's mailbox is still forwarding to their personal Gmail.
dijitul support takes that job off your plate. You get one place to send every IT question, from 'why is Teams so slow?' to 'what do we need for our new starter?'. We keep notes on your setup so you never have to explain it twice. If you want the wider picture, our main IT support page lists everything we cover.
Getting your Microsoft 365 licences right
A lot of small firms overpay or underbuy on Microsoft 365. The main business licences are:
- Business Basic: Exchange Online email, Teams, OneDrive and SharePoint, with web and mobile versions of Office only.
- Business Standard: everything in Basic plus the installable desktop apps (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Business Premium: everything in Standard plus security features such as Intune device management, Conditional Access and Defender for Business.
A shared inbox like accounts@ does not need its own licence: it can be a free shared mailbox. Someone who only works on a tablet may be fine on Basic. If you handle sensitive client data or have laptops leaving the office, Premium is often worth it for Intune and Conditional Access alone. We review this as part of Microsoft 365 support.
The basics every small business should have
- MFA on every account, especially admin accounts. See password and MFA setup.
- Separate admin accounts, so day-to-day logins cannot change tenant settings.
- Backups you have tested, including Microsoft 365 data. See data backup and recovery.
- A leaver process: block sign-in, convert the mailbox to shared, transfer OneDrive files, remove the licence.
- A starter process: licence, mailbox, groups, laptop and MFA ready before day one. See new starter IT setup.
- Up-to-date devices: Windows 10 reached end of support on 14 October 2025, so any business PC still on it needs a plan.
- Correct email DNS: SPF, DKIM and DMARC so your invoices reach customers.
Signs you have outgrown DIY IT
Doing your own IT is fine at first. These are the signs it has started costing you more than it saves:
- The same problem comes back every few weeks because nobody had time to find the cause.
- You share one Microsoft 365 login between several people, which breaks MFA and makes it impossible to see who did what.
- You cannot say, today, where your backups are or when you last restored a file from one.
- A supplier asks for your domain registrar login and nobody knows it.
- Your most expensive person spends an afternoon a month on IT instead of their real job.
If two or more of those sound familiar, a short IT audit or a month on the Complete plan will usually pay for itself.
Plan or pay as you go?
If you only need help two or three times a year, pay as you go at £45 an hour + VAT is the cheapest option. The minimum charge is 30 minutes, then we bill in 15-minute blocks, so small fixes stay small.
If your team contacts IT more than once a month, or you want someone keeping an eye on things, the Complete plan at £99 a month + VAT is better value. It includes 3 hours of work a month, priority support and an IT and Microsoft 365 helpdesk your staff can use directly. It also covers website care if you have a site. Compare the options on our pricing page, or read about managed IT services.
What we will not do
We will not sell you hardware you do not need, tie you into a long contract, or claim to have an engineer down the road when we do not. Most of our work is remote IT support. If something needs a site visit, such as a new office network or replacing a failed switch, we explain why and quote it first. For growing teams or bigger changes, IT consultancy and an IT audit are good next steps.
What it costs
Support plans from £25 a month + VAT, or £45 an hour + VAT for one-off fixes. Pick a plan if you want it looked after every month, or pay by the hour for a one-off job.

Frequently asked questions
What size of business do you support?
dijitul mostly supports businesses with between 1 and 25 staff who do not have their own IT person. Sole traders are welcome too. Because most of our work is remote, location within the UK does not matter.
Which Microsoft 365 licence does my small business need?
Business Basic suits staff who only need email, Teams and web apps. Business Standard adds desktop Office apps. Business Premium adds Intune, Conditional Access and Defender for Business. dijitul reviews your users and recommends the right mix so you are not overpaying.
How much is small business IT support?
dijitul charges £45 an hour + VAT for ad-hoc work. The Complete plan is £99 a month + VAT and includes 3 hours of work each month, priority support and an IT and Microsoft 365 helpdesk for your staff.
Can you take over from our old IT company?
Yes. dijitul will need admin access to Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace, your domain registrar and any router or firewall. We document what we find and fix anything risky, such as old admin accounts or missing MFA.
Do you deal with our broadband and phone suppliers?
Yes, we can talk to your broadband or VoIP provider on your behalf once you have added us as an authorised contact. That stops the back-and-forth where every supplier blames the other one.
Do I have to sign up for a long contract?
No. dijitul plans are monthly. You can also just pay £45 an hour + VAT for one-off fixes with no commitment at all. Plans run month to month, so you can change or stop them if your needs change.
