Mac support for businesses
Macs are reliable, but in a business they still need looking after: updates, backups, Microsoft 365, printers and security. Many IT companies only really support Windows. dijitul support handles both, so a mixed office has one place to call. For Windows machines see PC and laptop support, and for the full service see IT support.
Remote sessions on a Mac need Screen Recording and Accessibility permissions granted once under System Settings, Privacy and Security. We talk you through it. See remote IT support.
macOS updates without surprises
Minor macOS updates carry security fixes and should be installed promptly. Major upgrades each autumn can break older apps, plug-ins, printer drivers and anything that relied on legacy kernel extensions. Before a major upgrade we check your key apps against the vendors' compatibility notes, confirm a fresh Time Machine backup, and stagger upgrades so one Mac goes first.
Apple silicon Macs (M-series) run older Intel apps through Rosetta 2, but Apple has signalled Rosetta will be phased out, so very old apps need a plan. Apple has also said macOS Tahoe 26 is the last major macOS release for Intel-based Macs, so those machines will move to security updates only. We help you decide when to replace them.
Microsoft 365 on Mac
Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams and OneDrive all run natively on macOS, with a few differences from Windows. Common fixes we do include:
- Outlook for Mac password prompts: usually a stale keychain entry. We remove the old Exchange credentials from Keychain Access and sign in again.
- OneDrive sync errors: file names with characters macOS allows but OneDrive does not, or files on demand failing after a macOS update. See SharePoint and OneDrive support.
- Teams camera or microphone not working: permissions not granted under Privacy and Security. See Teams support.
- Licensing: Office apps asking to activate because the user signed in with a personal account. See Microsoft 365 support.
Security, backups and slow Macs
Every business Mac should have FileVault turned on, with the recovery key stored somewhere safe, not just on the Mac itself. We also check the firewall, automatic updates and that staff are not using the admin account day to day. For larger teams, Macs can be managed through Intune or a dedicated Mac management tool, with Apple Business Manager handling enrolment. See device management with Intune.
Time Machine to an external drive or NAS gives you hourly local backups. Pair it with cloud storage for anything critical. See data backup and recovery.
Slow Macs usually have a nearly full disk (macOS needs free space for swap and updates), runaway processes visible in Activity Monitor, or too many login items. We clear these remotely.
Macs and Windows in the same office
Mixed offices are common, especially where designers use Macs and everyone else uses Windows. The usual sticking points are shared drives, printers and file formats. We make sure Macs connect to file shares over SMB with the right credentials, or better still use SharePoint and OneDrive so both platforms see the same files. We install AirPrint or the correct macOS driver for shared printers, and check fonts and Office versions match so documents look the same on both. One helpdesk covers both platforms, so nobody has to work out which supplier to call. See IT helpdesk.
Price and hardware
Remote Mac support is £45 an hour + VAT, with a 30-minute minimum then 15-minute blocks. Clients on the Complete plan at £99 a month + VAT can use their 3 included hours for Mac work and their staff can use the helpdesk. Hardware faults such as batteries, screens and logic boards are best handled by Apple or an Apple Authorised Service Provider; we will tell you when that is the right route and help you back up first. See the pricing page or get in touch.

Frequently asked questions
Do you support Macs as well as Windows PCs?
Yes. dijitul supports Macs and Windows PCs, including mixed offices. Most Mac work is done remotely, at £45 an hour + VAT or within the Complete plan at £99 a month + VAT.
Should I install the latest macOS straight away?
Install minor security updates promptly. For major upgrades, check your business apps, printers and plug-ins are compatible and take a backup first. dijitul tests on one Mac before upgrading the rest.
Why does Outlook for Mac keep asking for my password?
Usually an outdated entry in Keychain Access from an old password. dijitul removes the stale credentials and signs Outlook back into Microsoft 365 with modern authentication. If prompts continue, we check the Mac is not still using an old account profile set up for Basic Authentication.
Will my Intel Mac still get updates?
Apple has said macOS Tahoe 26 is the last major version for Intel-based Macs. They are expected to receive security updates for a period after that. dijitul helps you plan replacements.
Can you repair my MacBook?
dijitul fixes software, settings, Microsoft 365, networking and backups on Macs. Physical repairs are best done by Apple or an Apple Authorised Service Provider, and we will tell you when that is needed.
Is FileVault necessary?
For business laptops, yes. FileVault encrypts the disk so a lost or stolen Mac does not expose your data. dijitul turns it on and makes sure the recovery key is stored safely.
