How one-off fixes work
- Tell us what is wrong: call 01623 650333, email support@dijitul.uk or use the contact page. A screenshot and the page address help.
- Access: we need an admin login, and for most errors hosting or SFTP access too.
- Estimate: if it looks like more than an hour or two, we tell you before starting. Big jobs are quoted.
- Backup and fix: backup first, then diagnose and fix.
- Confirm: we tell you what was wrong, what we changed and how to avoid it happening again.
Billing is £45 an hour + VAT. The first 30 minutes are the minimum charge, then we bill in 15-minute blocks, so a 40-minute fix is charged as 45 minutes.
Fixes we do most often
- Forms not sending: PHP mail blocked by the host, missing SPF or DKIM, or a broken reCAPTCHA key. See website forms not working.
- SSL and mixed content: "Not secure" warnings caused by expired certificates or http:// images and scripts on https pages. See SSL certificate support.
- Broken layouts: CSS conflicts after a theme or page builder update, cached old stylesheets, or minification plugins combining files in the wrong order.
- 404s and redirects: permalinks reset after a migration, missing .htaccess rules, or pages renamed without a 301 redirect.
- Error messages: PHP warnings showing on the page because display_errors is on, deprecated function notices after a PHP upgrade, or a fatal error from one plugin.
- Mobile display: elements wider than the screen, tiny tap targets or menus that will not open on phones.
- Accessibility issues: missing alt text, poor colour contrast or forms without labels. See website accessibility fixes.
When a fix becomes a project
Some problems are symptoms of something bigger. A site on PHP 7.0 with a theme that has not been updated since 2017 may need a PHP version upgrade and theme replacement, not a single fix. A site with dozens of conflicting plugins may need a rebuild. When we find that, we stop, explain the options and quote, rather than running up hours on patches that will not last.
If the whole site is down or showing errors on every page, see broken website repair or emergency website support. If you suspect a hack, go to hacked website repair.
Platform-specific fixes
The cause of a fault depends heavily on the platform, so we approach each differently:
- WordPress and WooCommerce: plugin conflicts found by disabling plugins in turn on a staging copy, PHP errors from the debug log, and checkout problems caused by caching. See WordPress support and WooCommerce support.
- Joomla and Drupal: extension or module errors after updates, broken SEF URLs, and cache or configuration drift. See Joomla support and Drupal support.
- Magento, PrestaShop and OpenCart: indexers, cron, override and modification conflicts. See Magento support, PrestaShop support and OpenCart support.
- Shopify, Wix and Squarespace: theme code, app leftovers, DNS and settings. See Shopify support and Wix and Squarespace support.
Slow pages and speed scores
A common one-off request is "Google says my site is slow". PageSpeed Insights and Core Web Vitals reports point to the usual culprits: oversized hero images, render-blocking scripts, web fonts loading late, layout shift from adverts or cookie banners, and slow server response. Some of these are quick fixes, such as compressing images, adding width and height attributes or deferring a script. Others, like replacing a heavy theme or changing host, are bigger and we will quote. See Core Web Vitals fixes.
Fixes on a plan instead
If you need fixes every month or two, a plan usually works out better. The Business plan at £50 a month + VAT includes 1 hour of fixes or changes each month and priority support, plus updates applied and checked, daily backups, uptime and security monitoring. The Complete plan at £99 a month + VAT includes 3 hours a month and IT and Microsoft 365 helpdesk for your team. See website maintenance and pricing.
What it costs

Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to fix a website?
dijitul charges £45 an hour + VAT for one-off website fixes. The first 30 minutes are the minimum charge, then billing is in 15-minute blocks. If a job looks like it will take longer than expected, we tell you or quote before carrying on.
Do I need a support plan to get a fix?
No. dijitul fixes one-off problems without a plan or contract at £45 an hour + VAT. If you need regular fixes, the Business plan at £50 a month + VAT includes an hour of fix time each month.
What do you need from me to fix my website?
An admin login for the website and, for most errors, hosting control panel or SFTP access. A description of the problem, the page address and a screenshot help dijitul diagnose it faster.
Can you fix a website another company built?
Yes. Most fixes dijitul does are on sites built by other developers or agencies. We take a backup first and document what we change, so nothing is lost if you go back to the original developer.
Why is my contact form not sending emails?
Common causes are the host blocking PHP mail, missing SPF or DKIM records so messages land in spam, or an expired reCAPTCHA key. dijitul usually fixes this by sending through authenticated SMTP and correcting DNS records.
